What have you done to your ride lately?

If I do anything on the ass end of the taco... this will be the route I will take - I like bedspace and being able to overload my truck! lol

Hmm.. Link the trail rig.. buy some cheap 8" coilovers (cheap is a relative term I know) and do one out back. Hmm. On problem for me is my truck isn't that long out back and going forward runs into my fuel cell. Hmm. <ponders life>

dual rate kit on the coilover.. OR.. helper airbags since the shock end won't move too much.. you might be able to add an airbags on its side. <more pondering>

Just remember you'll need to adjust the valving and springs as though the truck was heavier as a function of how much more work you are asking an 8" shock to do the job of an 18" shock.

On my rig I don't see a problem.. I don't go fast. What I'd really like to do (one year when I link it) is use dual rate coilovers.

Just ordered a bunch of these to 'lock' my lights to the truck. Figure its a deterrent. Damn socket to install them is not cheap though!

The thought crossed my mind. But in the end if I ever want to adjust them I'll need to loosen them up a bit.

The only thing that might make it tough on the tacoma is that you don't have as much clearance between the tire and the frame as I did. But since the stock lower mounts are further in, I would think moving them out wouldn't be a problem.

Also, you could notch out the stock top mount and weld in some tabs like I did on my front suspension. You'll have more room to get pretty welds than I did :)

Yeah, we're gonna be relocating the mounts entirely.

I like the idea of dropping the lower mounts into the tire because it should keep the entire system lower on the frame, where there would be potential issues with clearance of a fully stuffed 285.

Cantilever is a nice idea, but valving needs to be 4x as stiff to have the same effect as a vertical shock, yes? Would take some dialing in. While I like the idea, I think I'm gonna stick with the relocation method. The shocks have already been ordered and Icon is building them now :)

I had to shim and trim the fuxk out of my AllPoo... Even the best Chinese steel needs some American washers to make it fit.

I am CANADIAN.
Put a hitch on so I can have a rear recovery point now. Got it on sale for 50% off, or else I would have done a bumper :o

Last guy I helped put on an ARB we had my truck in 4L pulling it to the drivers side. Those things are a PITA to adjust side to side. When we used a BFH the ARB laughed at us lol
