Found a wire nut barely holding the hot wire together for the cold start cold start thermoswitch. Tore that apart, soldered and heat shrinked it up. Pretty tight fit in there. Yet another janky fix by the P.O. Pulled the coolant temp microswitch and the TPS plugs and applied some dielectric grease to the connections.

ECGS sent me a new pinion seal and but because the diff I bought from them was leaking pretty bad. I put it on before work and am hoping this was the fix. Don't know what else it could be.

Oil change. Cleaned out a 1/4 cup of mocha frappucino out of my secondary oil filter. New windshield wipers.

Looks good and similar to what I will be tackling in the next week.

I removed my rear bumper and pulled the 4 rocklights from under my bed.

I was taking apart my front driveshaft so as to clearance it and came across this. What is this shaft and the purpose of the needle bearings? Are they critical?

Yeah, it's important. That's what keeps both u-joints at the same angle so that one is never bending more than the other.

All the needle bearings fell out of mine when I took it apart to modify for high clearance. I picked them up and got 90% of them back in there when I put it all back together. Should be fine.

Well fuck. I think the majority of my needle bearings are either still in it or on the floor. I will deal with it tomorrow. Would it be better/easier to replace that bearing?

Little 81 Yota is getting some tunes this weekend. Kenwood Excelon head unit, 7" Excelon coaxials for front kicks, 5.25 Excelon coaxials for rear of the doors, powering those with a Kenwood 4 channel amp, and a single Kenwood powered sub. Need to pickup some fiberglass and thin MDF for the kicks ans door mounts.

Finished a couple of little things today on the 4Runner.

- soldered in an extension for the O2 sensor
- put the shims back in for the front axle to bring the pinion angle back up closer to right
- installed a new positive battery cable
- marked out the metal for the 4" shackles in front
- ordered front shocks (hopefully the last parts order for a while)
- got the right u joints ordered at O'Reillys. (somebody put the wrong parts in the box)
- replaced broke grease zerks on drive shafts

Almost done...

Finished putting my front drive shaft back together. Tomorrow it will be 4x4 again for the first time since Jambo 2013.
