I have a light bar if you want it :) 21" single row Blitzpro BNIB 150

I got my Hellfire Fab mirrors mounted up this evening with some minor trimming. It will be nice having some side mirrors when I have the tube doors on.

From experience any side mirrors won't last long on the trail. And for that matter cool as side panels in the tube doors are they really defeat the purpose, a set of half doors could serve the purpose much better. Idj about your gen truck but mine with tube doors would yield horrendous cab/frame flex enough to crack my windshield while the older trucks are likely better about this due to the boxed frame I bet they still flex quite a bit without the additional cab support

Weld in a cage and no frame flex. I think clear plexi in tube doors would be fine, best of both worlds.

Sounds like someone is still sad about his tube doors getting jacked. jK Randy

The mirrors aren't rigidly mounted. They use hose clamps to attach to the a-pillar and can swivel forward and back if hit.

So what was the root cause of why you bought a new hood and all that stuff? Just to make it look newer?
Light housings need to be swapped. Between that, a few dents in the hood and the fact I picked up some new fenders (to me) and because I have to remove everything to finish my crumpled zone cracks and multiple cracks in the radiator support, I figured updating would be easy!

So far I've been lucky, no cracked winshield lol

Here's what I am doing for mirrors. My old dualsport mirror bolted to a tricktab, just need to burn the tricktab onto the door. Can disconnect with a socket in about 3 seconds. Only plan on the passenger side needing a mirror. On the drivers side I can just lean out the window haha

I took my front bumper off this weekend to regrease the winch and found my frame mounts cracked and all kinds of jacked up no wonder my bumper didn't sit straight

Looks like more and more of these 2nd gen Tacomas will not be million mile trucks. That sucks.

This is what happened to my bumper mounts. I flattened them out, cleaned them up, welded the cracks, ground em down, welded em again to cover any voids and then ground them flat. A few months later they cracked and I haven't even winched anything or pulled anything from my bumper. So I guess its the weight of the bumper of the design of them. I'm thinking about making new plates our of 1/4" steel and some tabs to reinforce them to the frame and then paying someone to professionally weld them on for me. I don't want them to crack again.

.25" plate is what I fixed mine with, my bumper will fall apart before they tear off the frame

Did you reinforce anything else behind the mount? I'm afraid if I reinforce the mounting plate I'll just move the stress point to the frame and cause more damage

My frame from the cab mount forward is 4x3x.25 wall tubing, its not going anywhere. On my stock frame the mounts were tied into my spring hanger and frame plates. Without the extra bracing I suspect it would have torn the ends of the frame. But its hard to tell as I believe the bulk of my frame cracks were created by the spring hanger twisting as well as the pan hard bar

X2!

Roger what's the update with FedEx? Is another hood on the way?

Company has no more hoods for a while they gave me a full refund. If FedEx does not pick up within 5 biz days, I will get to keep this one - that may make up for the dent.

I once posted up a drawing where I would put a slug into the opening of the existing frame as to distribute the load better. Regardless of what we do - this car - sorry, I meant to say 'truck,' was meant to pass crash tests and get the fleet mileage numbers. We all know that this is a shell of what a landcruiser spec truck would be.

Yeah I keep going back and forth between selling it and keeping it. The argument "I've already got too much money in it and it drives so smooth" wins out every time lol

I'm planning to reinforce mine with some 1/4" plate with some gussets tied in and adding another front crossmember to tie the bumper into as well to reduce the amount of stress seen at the stock mounting points. We'll see how far I get this coming weekend :)

Ok, thanks. I'm thinking since the mounts are made of the same thickness then it'll probably crack further back.
