What have you done to your ride lately?

Finally got around to putting on some new stickers today...Registration and inspection that is.

Thanks for the pics. Gonna have to make something similar. I'm still worried about breaking the frame and then having to do something similar to what randy did

Its just so much easier to do the axle swap from the get go

No problem, I'm worried as well, there isn't much reinforcement you can do with IFS, getting fishplates where all that mess is could be tricky haha. I'm now running 3 extra crossmembers (front for bumper, mid for t-case skidplate, and rear for shock hoop) and installed the TC coil bucket gussets. Hopefully that will stiffen the frame up a bit.

Here is the finished product (minus the bumper being installed lol) Got al lthe gussets welded on all it needs is some paint and I need to drill the extra mounting holes on the bumper.

New mounts with one of the gussets welded in

Mocked up for lining up the new mounts, tacking them in

Cooling off ready to be mounted on the truck

Burned in

Front reinforcement plates burned in and tied to the frame/body mount

Should be 1000% better than before, I combined several reinforcement ideas i've seen to try and get the best of all of them.

Excellent work! Nice welds. Now is you bumper attaching to that crossmember as well? I see those extra mounts in the middle there with the holes in them.

Disregard.. I just read your post on the previous page explaining the middle mounts. Great idea.

Thanks! I'm happy with how it turned out. And yes, that extra one is for additional bumper mounts, just need to mount the bumper and mark where it needs to be drilled.

Hoping the extra time spent on it keeps me from ever having to mess with it again. It took me a little longer to make it since I had to work with figuring out how I would design it while building it, there were a couple of repeat cuts made for better ideas popping in my head along the way haha. The stock mounts were maybe 10 gauge at best and now after I'm done they are 1/4" sandwiched on each side of the stock mount, making the mount now 1/2" thick and tied directly back into the frame in several spots. That combined with the 2 extra mounting points which should help distribute the winching weight better should work nicely. Running 1/2-13 grade 8 hardware will make it easier to source hardware as well, I have a whole drawer full of grade 8 bolts lol.

Theory being just take 6000 lb pull / 6 mounting points. Each mounting point (in theory) sees 1000 lbs. Now that I have 8, that number is reduced to 750 lbs, a 25% reduction in stress seen at each point. I realize that's all in theory and that when winching it's all depending on angles the truck is at but I'm assuming a little sine or cosine of those numbers would work lol. Enough of my engineering nerd talk, I need to get out and get stuck so I can do some real world testing :)

Here's the finished product on the inner mount, gusset that ties the mount to the frame rail

Here's where it's sits

1/2" bolt that ties it into the frame rail

Bumper all remounted, I also decided to take 2" out of the fenders while I was in there lol

Threw on some new stoppers too, OEM was shot

Did a brake job last week and my pics looked the same down to the same spindle gussets.

yea I was surprised to see how worn down they were. Last time I was driving it sounded pretty terrible to get down to the warning part of the pads. Kind of embarrassing actually especially since I drive around with no doors people already look at me funny lol I love those TC spindle gussets, thanks for talking me into getting them over the non sway bar ones! :)

You could have gotten another week out of those pads. lol. I like those gusset too. :)

Ah green stuff pads and fancy rotors, I've been contemplating some dempled/slotted rotors for the tow rig, when I finally need brakes which won't be long

rofl yeah and then the sign of needing new brakes would have been driving over some poor camry at an intersection

Yeah I was debating just getting the stock rotors turned and getting the EBC pads but I had been having some vibrations so I was thinking I could use the upgrade and hope that maybe I had excessive runout on the stockers causing the vibrations when braking. It wasn't too bad think I paid $300 shipped for rotors and pads. Hopefully they last longer than the stock ones.

Sad part is that I have a dial indicator at my man cave that I have not used to check run-out for years. WTF? The last brakes were pulsing... now I think the pulsing may have come from cheap drums. Oh how I miss those days that I had a lot more fuck off time.

Do we all replace differential seals when we remove our cvs? :)

Replaced my blower motor and blower motor resistor today.

Pretty interesting the difference between the original OEM resistor and the new OEM one...
