What have you done to your ride lately?

I hear ya. I grilled out last night and I cleaned off everything outside beforehand. Damn rags were yellow. That's probably what did me in, being outside for 4 hours or so. I had a few beers, not many but today I was down and out. I went to the parts store to buy more diff lube and some rags.. got home and had zero energy to do shit.

Well after I put it off as long as possible, I ordered the stuff to do my inner and outer tie rods AGAIN. Just did the outers 10k miles ago. Going with Moog this time rather than O'Reilly's brand. People seem to have good experience with them. Was going to do upper ball joints as well but didn't see the point as my truck already can't be aligned to spec with the factory UCAs so I'll just be replacing the whole things when I get the chance anyway.

Took the axle shaft out and replaced the c-clip from a spare vatozone axle. It's actually thinner in diameter but encompasses more of the shaft. (There is a yo-momma joke in there somewhere). Reinstalled it. We'll see if it holds.

They worked fine for 5 years. Now they are popping out. It's got to be something simple. I'm just missing it.

Mine were popping out on the driver side. What side is yours coming out on?

I speculated that it was a combination of the drop bracket lift not being perfectly centered and/ or too much drop in my suspension.

Mine is dropping out on the passenger side. I added new boots which are very thick, I'm thinking that I have the outer stretched out too far and not letting the shaft cycle in the inner CV. I know the VatoZone axle I have as a spare does have more travel than the RCV, but its assembled properly.. there is a snap ring on the inner which doesn't let me adjust that. And the outer has a C-Clip that just pops into place. So again, nothing to adjust. So I "think" it might be the boot limiting its travel. The other thing that might be an issue is the inner c-clip to hold the axle in the diff... its possible its not quite thick enough. But it help the VatoZone axle in place just fine.
