I bet its the composite bed that scares people. I know that would be my biggest concern. I'm anxious to see how Randy seals it all up.

It will be interesting, I didn't have much of a plan going into it, and some other issues have come up, for example the bed is not square, it tapers toward the rear of the truck but only slightly, not a big deal for the sheet metal but the composite dosn't line up for shit on the sides of the bed now floor is good but the sides might just have to stay ugly for a while.

Maybe you can get it close enough and then hit it with a grinder to make it all level.. then have it Linex'd. Should cover up any seams that way.

I think I'm gonna bolt a metal plate behind it, the seams arn't a big deal but I want the 2 sections attached to each other rigidly somehow. That composite stuff just dosn't like being bent, super brittle.

Yeah, when I put that HiLift mount in my bed I put 2" wide strips of 1/8" aluminum behind it to spread the load. I imagine something similar when you put yours two pieces together, although I'm sure a nice 4" wide piece of 1/8" or 3/16" plate would be a better option.

Yep, but I'm gonna spray mine with some primer and a flat UV protectant clear as well.

And you only need primer on bare metal, otherwise just scuff it with 600 grit.

The UV clear coat is only so I don't have to repeat the process every year or two. I have quite a bit of area on the truck that has been scratched down to bare metal that will need primer.
