I think most of us have done the National Park before?

Never been to either but it sounds like the SP has the majority vote.

I asked Linsey if she wanted to go... she said that even if she decided she didn't want to, she really didn't care if I went as long as I "don't waste all of my vacation time on offroading trips and we still get to go fun places".

This sounds like a good trip, and I should be able to make it out. I'm good with boonies camping also.

If we plan on hiking more than wheeling, and exploring by vehicle, I'll need to get in shape though. So my vote is for the state park!

I would prefer the state park over the national park. But thats just me.

Just another difference in states. Our state parks charge 2x as much and give 1/2 the service. Oh and the rangers! The state guys (girls mostly) can be like Rabid Dogs!!!

The fees for the state are not bad at all. 8$ a day per camp site and $5 a day per person to use the park.

The National Forest places range from $12 to $17. California parks are more like $29. BLM land = FREEEEEEE!

NC has fairly nice state parks, and the services are reasonably priced...but they close the gates into them at about 7 or 8, and there is no alcohol allowed...

Checked with my wife; she is interested in it at this point if more wives go along. If she goes I might tow my 4Runner out there and use it for the trails while we are there.

Hmmm.... i might need to locate a heavier towing vehicle for the trip out there. My Tacoma would probably hold up ok though.

I like NC. At least all the times I've been.
