Frack me..
How many vehicles per site. 3? I thought I read that somewhere. Might need the second site just for that reason. We have what... 4 rigs so far? Jason, Drew, Sam, Roger.. you guys in?

sorry man, I burn all my days off during the Christmas holidays. I won't be able to make this one.

This is going to be a great trip! Didn't get a chance to call back and reserve the other site but I should have time tomorrow.
I plan to make it to the park early on Friday. Might hit up some hiking trails if I am waiting on people to get there.
Does anyone want to go in on a hotel room for thursday night in Alpine or Marfa?

When do you need a commitment by?

I am already going and have decided to reserve both sites so the sooner the better for an accurate head count but it wont really change the trip. I doubt the hotels in Alpine are going to sell out so you have some time to decide on that. I will book a room with 2 double beds in case the extra bed space is needed.

I seriously doubt we'll have any trouble getting enough campsites. Plus, you can camp anywhere in the bush as long as you're far enough away from the road.

Having a site would be good to park tow rigs if anyone brings them though

I'm still on the fence about trailering my rig out there or just riding around with Aaron. I think it will depend if my wife goes. If she goes I'll probably trailer it; if not then I will probably ride with Aaron. We'll see as it gets closer.

The site I reserved is 4wd/high clearance accessible so it might be very hard to get your taco there while pulling your 4runner. You and your wife are both welcome to ride with me. I should have plenty of room for everyone and everything.

Could always leave the tow rig at the main gate. Not sure how they feel about that... Or how you feel. I wouldn't do it but maybe it's a gate that's manned 24/7??

The entrance is not manned. Both entrances are RIGHT on the border so leaving your tow rig/trailer there means you better be up to date on your insurance policy. The ranger station to the park is in the center of the interior and sounds like the road to it is not so bad. It might be worth calling the park and ask about leaving a truck/trailer there.

driving there is not bad (seems like a long way..), it's just a dirt road.. They have the space in their lot.. there were other trailers there, horse trailers I think. That is your best bet.

here is the headquarters on the map.

So you're saying there's a chance!
I just requested off the 17th through the 21st for this trip. I am pretty excited about it.

Awesome!! I just reserved the 2nd site at Guale so we should have plenty of room and no one camping near us. The solitude will be good so we don't draw attention to ourselves when another dry ice bomb goes off under Sean's tent cot.lol

Definitely interested in this. Will have to see what the work schedule and beer/gas funds look like as it gets closer

I gave my boss a head's up the other day about the trip; he said to just put in for the time off when it gets closer. So as long as we do not get any major projects between here and there I should be good.
