The pistol brace only fits pistol buffer tubes. Where the ATF is catching people is "intent". If a person shoulders a pistol with a Sig brace their intent is SBR. If they use aa Sig brace as a pistol brace their intent is legal. In the end photos and videos are the damning evidence for the ATF.

Ah so it really comes down to an officer level definition assuming your not a youtube/Facebook idiot. Been mulling one over since I sold my SBR years ago nut have been wary of the legal ramifications

My guess is that if your are shouldering a SBR sig brace against your shoulder and a cop catches you on video. Chances are you were probably gonna go to jail anyhow.

I've never come across anyone checking at ranges or game wardens checking at leases, though I've never had anything at the lease worth looking into gun wise.

Best day at the range today ever. I finally got all the kinks worked out of my night hunting rig. It's now putting 220gr Sierra Game king bullets into 1 hole at 50 yds at subsonic velocity.

Zeroed my night vision scope for 100yds, and the poi is only 4" high at 50yds.

Correction, I forgot the 220gr I'm using is s "pro-hunter" not game king

The spitzer shape actual out performs game king and match king at subsonic velocities

I have ran into more than a few officers now in different departments and have yet to come across more than a handful of them that actually understood how to read an endorsement stamp. That said; it didn't stop any of them from wanting to check out the items we had. So far I have only come across one prick and he was quickly put in check by the other officer with him.

I have noticed that subsonic bullets with longer bearing surfaces tend to perform better. I have not had a chance to really hammer out why yet - just an observation.

Here's why

More surface means better friction force to spin the bullet at lower velocities.

Air resistance operates differently at supersonic velocities than at subsonic. Most HPBT bullets are designed for supersonic flight taking advantage of the sound wake behind them for stability. Which is why even a bullet that is on a stable flight path can destabalize when it makes the transonic drop to subsonic; becoming unpredictable and even key-holing.

Yeah; I have read up and studied up on the differences in the air dam during trans and subsonic flight. The increased friction on the bearing surface for stability makes sense; just seems odd is all. It would be reasonable that a bullet doing 2900 fps would need more spin/friction than a bullet doing 900 fps.

I would never shoulder it at the gun range. Too many people with camera phones these days...never know who could be an off duty cop...if you're alone on your deer lease or something like that, "I would still never shoulder it"

458 SOCOM would be awesome. Def have to reload those badboys though. I saw a box of 20 on Cheaper than Dirt for $80!

Yeah; that is my hangup right now. Brass is super rare at a decent price and I will have to cast my bullets. I already have 100 lbs of lead so that isn't a worry. That is at least enough lead to cast a couple bullets.

x2 I have an 8.5" and 10" upper in 300 Blackout. Should have an 8" upper in 45 ACP pretty soon. Looking to put together a 10" upper in 458 SOCOM next summer.

I looked & priced building one already. It's cheaper to just buy it completed than to get the components to build one (although I LOVE building AR's). There was a sale on a .458 complete upper the other day for ~$450 IIRC. Really cheap
