Speaking of ponds. My buddy lives on a lake in Missouri, and in his backyard he has a decent sized Koi pond. He catches bass/catfish/whatever out of the big lake. Transfers it to his Koi pond and then when he wants fresh fish he uses a net and scoops some out. He had a nice wooden sign with custom routered out lettering that reads "Death Row". lol

A fish pond is supposedly the most cost/labor efficient means to get good protein in your diet. It's at the top of my "mod" list for my eventual camp property. First thing is planting some good nut trees because they take 20+ years to produce a good source of protein. I'd like to be able to live off the land as easily as possible by planning far ahead using permaculture methods.

Back in the day, I can remember golfing at a course in the Ozarks where they had plenty of water hazards and all of them were filled so high with fish you could practically walk across them. :)

Anyone know how easy or difficult is it to charge a Walter P22 / Ruger SR22 / Sig Sauer P250? I need to get down to the gun store and see for myself but I am thinking that my mother could probably lock the slide back no problem right?

I'm afraid to ask...is this for CC for her?

If so, I would suggest a 380 or get her a 22mag revolver

I knew that was coming but no, it won't be for concealed carry. It's a tough situation and I am back and forth on what to get her but my intention is more about trying to get her comfortable shooting in baby steps. I am pretty sure that she has never shot a gun before but she lives alone now and would like to have something around the house, she is however also a little apprehensive. Really I think that a revolver is probably the way to go but I am afraid that a 38 special might scare her away. I was thinking about buying her a semi auto 22 and get her practice for awhile. I'll be glad to swap her out for a 380 / 9mm / 38 special as soon as she is ready, I could use the 22 for plinking and training my kids.

It is not a war crime the first time.

I think you can get a lighter recoil spring that would make racking the slide easier if need be. The trade off would be sharper recoil.

I also like the idea of a short barrel 38 revolver. They are simple to use and easy to handle. But you know the situation better.

I know I'd take my snubby .38 over any other if my life depended on it, but I'm biased towards it.

Jjst a thought... Why not get her an LCR in 22LR? That way when she wants to/is ready to move up, she can get an LCR in 38spl and already be familiar with the platform? Nothing better than practicing with the gun you'll be protecting yourself with.

It's the only one (Walther P22) other than my Sig 238, that my gal can charge with ease!!!

I was going to suggest an AR pistol so that it would be easier to charge but my company thinks I should not be looking at weapons. lol
