I've also been looking at the SS LTB's in 34x10.50 which measure out to a 34.5x11.50. Plus I can get 5 for $1,100.

Fuck skinney tires, spend 100 more dollars and get some IROKs

Hunting that crap down is a pain in the ass. I wasn't able to get rid of mine until I got a CV driveshaft AND angled my diff up to point at the T-case

Yeah, I never had it with the stock DS and John has had it for a while......we recntly swaped DS's (his Tom Woods 1 piece) and now I have the smae ping he was having.

We still on for Fri? Also that "ping", it's this driveshaft.I have it now also when I let off the clutch.

Yes, and good to know. I figured it might've been a loose u-joint. Once I get it back from you I'll replace 'em (or we may just do it some day we have nothing better to do). If it's rotational play in the slip joint, then I'll deal with that as necessary.

Anyway, yeah, Fri is still on and you're welcome to ride up to ATO on Sun if you want as well. No fighting with Kevin til my bumper's on though lol

Mine showed up after a wheeling trip after installing a Woods one-piece I bought used but in fine condition. Not sure if it came with a bad u-joint, play in the slip joint, or if I knocked one of those loose while wheeling. In any event, it's good to know it's the DS and not my T-case output shaft.

FWIW I no longer have it now that I'm back to my stock DS.

Thanks for the diagnostics :D

I'll get that shit figured out down the line.

I checked over everything, and all seems good. I think it's a driveline noise, when the drivling engages that echos down the open tube, and makes a ping.

IDK, we'll check it out when I return it.

I've had the ping before.. a few times... once it was the double cardan and once it was the rear end taking a dump. :(

Well, to my knowledge, Tom Woods doesn't use quality parts. I know lots of people use them without issue, but if you have a choice, get one made with american manufactured dana parts.

Also, the one piece CV shaft is not able to do it's job properly unless your rear diff is tilted up toward the T-case. In fact the one piece shaft is WORSE if you don't tilt the diff

I'll have to disagree on the WORSE part. I had vibes from the get go with my truck. The one piece removed all of that. As for the lower quality parts.. I'll have to agree. My first TW driveshaft was good...never had an issue until I twisted it up on rocks. My second one was shit! Ate two TW CV's within a year. Then I took it to a local place and had a Dana CV installed in it.. now its fine. But as for making it worse, I didn't think so. Maybe its more noticeable with more lift.

Maybe the 2 piece just sucked that much more?

maybe so? But I had a slight shudder from a starting standstill even when I was stock height.

Why would you get a one piece DS for anything other than a reg cab. Thing would be a massive rock magnet

No double cardan here, just single u-joints at either end with a slip yoke. I'm betting it's slop in the slip yoke, because the u-joints are brand new and tight so far as I can can tell.

Anyway, it's been on two different rear ends, so it ain't that takin' a dump. Also, mine is now gone since I'm back to the stock DS.

I've heard that about TW, and it may be true for all I know...I got it secondhand cheap as shit, so I ain't complainin. I bought it so I could wheel it and keep the stock DS as a spare (easier to fit in bed). My pinion isn't shimmed upward, but since this isn't a CV shaft it's not supposed to be.

maybe so? But I had a slight shudder from a starting standstill even when I was stock height.

x2 - had slight takeoff shudder when stock, got worse with lift. Almost got it to go away completely by shimming the carrier bearing down with grade 8 washers. Now it's so minor as to not be noticeable - the MTs make more rumble when accelerating from a stop than the CB does.

See above. Inexpensive spare bought used.
