If I don't find a new job before the end of this year - please flame me relentlessly. As soon as I get my end of year commission check - I need to get the F out of this mess.

Seems legit. Lord knows my first quarter was a record breaker in a good way. My billings last month blew, but covered more than our costs so thats good. If I can get some larger projects done and billed this month my 2nd quarter will also be very good and my backlog is out few months so that's good. Need a few more small or one good medium sized job for the rest of this year to keep my guys working.

Glass-Related Construction Holds Up in March | USGlass Magazine & USGNN Headline News

In all the doom and gloom I never let 9/11, the 2008 financial crisis, or this #19 crap hold me back. Wish the guys handling my 401k would do the same lol

And we just lost another dispatcher. Her first day back in the office is today (been being paid to "work from home" since the start of the covid) and she gave her notice lol

Boss threw at her a raise, more vacation time, and increase in 401k %. She told him there wasn't enough money in the world to keep working for him or so I was told. I wish I had balls that big. Here he is thinking he's taking care of her when in reality he's one of the biggest jackass Ive ever worked for so prob the same with her lol

The best is him talking smack about her leaving to me right in front of her. If she was considering staying he should of shot himself in the foot by now for that. Now to do some reflection and figure out why I'm still a glutton for punishment

Maybe ask where she's going and if they are still hiring?

Everyone in glass is hiring. Prob is not finding a job. Prob is finding a good job. Not making the same mistake I made coming here (take a step backwards).

Pre covid poll of glass co owners for 2020....labor shortage is #1 concern. They all need use more than we need them...or at least thats my situation now that Ive got a good emergency fund

Head hunter from this place just hit me up... Google Maps

Now this is my kind of location ~ West of Portland, ME in the boonies. Apparently Oldcastle Glass just bought them out and looking to add some staff. Ill be talking to them for sure. Figure best case I could make a deal and sign a contract for starting in a few months so I have time to quit here then fix up my crap hole and get it on the market or rent it out (prob look more towards sell so I don;t have any worries & can get my equity unlocked). Rent a crappy apartment up there for a month or two till I'm 100% sure it's for me then get some land and develop it.

The google reviews don’t look too promising

Look into or ask about their financials, employee turnover, production past/present etc. ask to talk with folks from to production to Managment, it’s just as much as interviewing them to make sure the shoe fits.

Good luck! I would think about renting it... that way if things go south up there you have a place to fall back on.

Ive got a 3 page questioner for prospects I developed. I interview them - not the other way around. Did that here but was fed lies. If I make a move to another state there will be a contract in place first for sure. It's not like Philly where we have 20 major companies I could work for. Up there they may have 2-3.

Employee turnover isn't all it used to be. My job prior to this had more than a few gold watch wearing teammates (more than 30 years in the company) and that place was an outdated sh*t show. I used to think long term was good, but most fo them just got stuck and couldn't leave or set in their ways to eat sh*t every day. They were so stuck in the past to this day they still use carbon copies. Other companies I worked for a decade prior were paperless. Might as well of been using typewriters and telegraphs lol

Good news is Oldcastle is owned by the largest construction company in North America so they should be stable. "CRH is the leading global diversified building materials business in the world, employing 79,200 people at 3,100 locations worldwide. ... A Fortune 500 company, CRH is a constituent member of the FTSE 100 index, the EURO STOXX 50 index, the ISEQ 20 and the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Europe."

I worked for them 15 or so years ago and was treated very well, but I was young and dumb so I left due to topping out management wise there at age 25. Now I could care less what my title or position is so long as I can make them tons of money and they reciprocate it.

Someone opened up the flood gates.... got 4 e-mails yesterday alone.

This one from your guys neck of the woods is funny.

They have all these fancy awards listed on their e-mail...... yet they work in a office that's rental space.... 609 Main St - Coworking Office Space in Downtown Houston | WeWork

lol Last thing I'd do is put my carer in the hands of a firm that can't even afford their own offices. Reminds me of when I was in manufacturing and someone would tell us their company address was at a storage space rental. We wouldn't even sell to them if they paid CIA/COD.

Yeah I worked for 6 months in a temp office space. It was rough in terms of giving out our address because people would do the same to us.

Yep, I feel the same way. They are relentless. Now I'm just going to stop responding. Like freaking sharks in the water that smell blood

I have gotten good jobs through recruiting agencies. I've gotten better jobs without them, but I've gotten good jobs through them.

Yes, they suck, but I wouldn't rule them out.

I was open to offers for a couple years with recruiting agencies. The best I got was decent jobs. The job I have now I found through Indeed searches.

We are officially slammed for the summer starting next week. Hall has no additional guys that can or will work and I'm abut 10 guys short of what I need next week. All our jobs that got pushed for 2 months still need to get done and now we can;t man the jobs scheduled to start now. Time to get the magic wand out to avoid future liquidated damages/lawsuits. Yehaaaaaa...I prefer slammed to slow any day.
