Highest roads of Colorado

I'm officially placing my vote for Imogene Pass, Black Bear Pass, Cinnamon Pass* and Engineer Pass* on the Ouray side of the trip.

*makes up the "Alpine Loop"
I would drop black bear pass (unless you've never done it before) and add in Poughkeepsie. Black bear pass is just a tight trail with a lot of turns on it...gets kinda boring after awhile

I haven't done any of them... At least in that area. I've done some in the Gunnison National Forest, but I'm not opposed to dropping black bear. Isn't that the iconic one that overlooks Ouray though?

BB is the zig zag trail that drops into Telluride.
Imogene was crowded when I went and several rent a jeeps and tour trucks of people.
Passing a dumb girl on the side of cliff that had no business taking the renta jeep up there was a little hairy.

Passing a jeep that didnt yield coming down the mountain

That was black bear for us. Trying to come around the major bend and people walking/biking right in front of us with no concern for themselves. My wife was yelling at me to calm down because I wanted to hop out and start beating some idiots.

Is the plan on this to camp on the trail or in a campground? I see a loose timeline, but nothing definite

I would prefer camp on the trails, but won't be able to do that with the little ones. Short answer is "I don't know."

Of the people remaining on the original list, I haven't heard from @tx_shooter , I think @MatthewMay1 is out for school related things, @balakay just sold his rig, and I think @italynstylion is still planning on going (at least for the run in Ouray the following weekend).

For everyone I just tagged, can we get a temp check?

Yeah, based on what I was reading on here... I'm out and am going to make the SWTX run that I posted yesterday.

I'll have to see about school. I also haven't had time to build a bed rack and redo my rear suspension yet so the chances of me making this trip are decreasing. Still interested though

I only sold one rig! I still have one more but yeah, it's not gonna happen for me. My Tacoma would fall apart before it made it all the way there.

So I think my plans are pretty much set. I'm taking the family up the Friday before labor day. We plan to spend Saturday in Creede, Sunday in Lake City, and actual Labor day in Crested Butte. We'll hang out with family for the majority of the week. I'll probably head over to Ouray area at some point either during the week or on the way back the following weekend.

I'll do a few trails while we are there, but nothing major since we won't be in my truck. We also won't be doing much, if any, camping.

Anyone is welcome to join for the Labor Day weekend portion of the trip.

I don't think I'm going to make this one. My wife is going out of town and originally, I was going to come to this. Win win. But we got a puppy recently so I don't think I'll be able to jet for a week. Once he's a bit older he's absolutely coming with me to Colorado. He's going to be so freaking amped. But as of now, he's just a wee boy. Next year!

Well you can't say all that and not post a pic of him!
