Between doom, quake and redneck rampage, it's a wonder I ever graduated college.

We have to replace sewer pipe in our apts that was built in 1910. 2 options push a pipe through or open up the driveway and pay for removal of the 'contaminated' dirt. As though some child will bust concrete and eat it?

Lucky. My neighbor would of told me to go screw, like when his tree took out my car 2 years ago.

You need to get one of a sling shot and take out his windows with ice cubes, about one a quarter for the next 3 or 4 years ought to do the trick.

One of the things I should of picked up this weekend when I go to DE. The snow kept me from going there this weekend as I had planned. NJ has deemed the age old tools as merely weapons with no use other than destruction/vandalism. I would think of them as one of the top survival tools to keep yourself fed by small game in this region, but what do I know.

More garage art. 8th Tactical Fighter Squadron, the Black Sheep out of Holloman AFB NM. My first assignment in the AF almost 30 years ago. Found the poster online.

I love those. :) I wish I hadn't put away the camera last year when one buzzed me about 50-100ft off the deck in the desert. :) It was an E with two joy riders. :)

Anyone have experience re-staining wood? Is there any good way to go about it? I bought new bedroom furniture but didn't want to spend money on the dresser because it's essentially the exact same thing I have just a different color. Would like to retain mine to be closer to the new stuff though (I'm trying to make it look like I actually give a shit when in reality I don't). Just figured it would be cheaper to retain what I have than spend a few hundred on a new dresser. Plus mine was built by my grandpa about 40 years ago and is solid as a rock. Don't want to replace it with new age shitty made stuff.

Sand down to bare wood, brush on stain and wipe off. Fine sand, and stain 1 more coat.

This ^^

Many moons ago I matched up some old furniture with new furniture. I also found that I had to buy a couple different color stains and do several layers to get a better match to the new stuff. I'm no master woodworker but it turned out pretty nice.

I'm not going to match it exactly. The dresser will be in the closetso it won't even be seen beside the new stuff. But I really just hate the color of it right now. It looks orange. So I want to stain it darker so it's somewhat close to the new stuff. Was just wondering if there was a way to do it without sanding down to bare wood.

A palm sander with 80 or 150 grit will make quick work of the old stain. After that I would hit it with 220 grit before staining.

You can do the stain/top coat stuff as long as you are going darker. I have had great success with it in kitchens before. You may want to practice first since your techniques will vary your outcome

I've restained dozens of floors, furniture and decks. You can always go darker in stain. so if you're unsure, buy the small stain sample cans and stain the bottom of the dresser until you find a color you like.

The kitchens I re-did were varnished as well. I just cleaned and scuffed with a green pad. After I got it to the hue I wanted, I sealed with a number of coats of clear. Stripping it all together, you typically have to fill too. All depends what you want. Something that you plan on keeping for 100 years, 50, 25 or 5... ;)
