So many times I hear of these issues..... almost always in bathrooms from around the 60's - current. Seems everyone forgot how to do things right.

I was so afraid of screwing up a wet bed type shower I did a pan in mine and just tiled all the walls above it. Sure it would of looked much better had the floor been tile, but I wasn't risking it and thats after I put down Shluter on top of all the concrete board and plywood floor.

Yep, I couldn't agree more about forgetting how to do stuff. I had an old tile tradesman (actually went to school for tile) from Virginia work for me awhile helping me install underground piping and setting drainage blocks (everything but tile ). He would grout the penetrations in the blocks so well that it all looked like one piece. Wish I still had his # but I lost it when that phone broke (pre-Google contacts).

And my mom would never settle for a pan nowadays. So tile it has to be.

Luckily now companies like Schluter have pre-made kits with the foam sill included so hopefully they reduce the amount of issues with wetbeds in new construction. After replacing the entire rotted out floor of my bathroom I put Schluter everywhere...even up my walls by 3" so mopping wouldn't rot out anything.

I'm not really good at all that building stuff. Currently I'm working on renovation of my old house in Auckland, NZ, I decided to hire professionals from Supercity Property service near me. Want to repair the roof and clean the gutter. Hope we will finish all work in two weeks

I try to be professional enough to know what I can and what I should not do around the house. I tend to let stuff like the roof, plumbing, and electrical be done by the guys that do it on a regular basis. When I needed the 50 amp 220 plug in my garage I pulled a favor with an electrician friend. I got my plug and he got some Sailor Jerry's.

Rookie... in the old house I put in a 220 plug below the fuse box in the garage and I never even pulled the breaker. I'm sure in an alternate universe I am dead. But one wire at a time with one hand on the insulated pliers. Worked awesome.

My step dad and I put in a 220V breaker underneath our outside main electrical box in a weatherproof box. When we finished, I opened it up and said "man, if I was a kid, I'd probably stick something in this" to which my stepdad replied "shit, your right" and we grabbed a lock to put on it

On Sunday, I dug out a 2' x 3' x 14"T rectangular hole and framed it up to pour concrete. Also put in a bunch of rebar to reinforce it to make it stronger. This slab encases the supporting anchor line for a huge pole that holds our sail that covers the pool. This sounds like a small hole but on my mom's property it's about 4" of top soil and the rest is just straight clay, so digging is an absolute motherf***ker.

I poured the slab last night. I hand mixed and poured thirteen 80# bags of concrete. So needless to say, I'm wore out this morning

I've got fifteen 80# bags in the back and the Dakar springs still hold up after 160k+ miles with all that weight in the back. I need to install my new ones.

I need to look at hyrdro bumps when I get her back on the road. That set up looks much more dependable than my inverted superbumps with "hockey pucks" under them.

HVAC in the garage is looking better and better every day. I'm roasting. This was taken around 7:40 PM.

Temp in the garage.. there is NO breeze.

I usually enjoy yard work till about this time of the year. I try take pride in how my house looks. Been doing yard work for 10 years and that has been the main cause of my injuries over that time. Today the tops of my fence got me while trimming some bushes. Inner bicep is tender but add this to it and then have to dig out 5 splinters and I was hurting. Strong beer and Crown are tasting like I am going into work late tomorrow.

Today the tops of my fence got me while trimming some bushes. Inner bicep is tender but add this to it and then have to dig out 5 splinters and I was hurting. Fawk! I worked my ass off this weekend. So glad I had to go to work so I could get some rest in the A/C!

Had a new A/C system installed at one of my mom's rent houses.
Had my framer and tile guy out at both my mom's and at another rent house.
Fabbed up some metal backing plates to reinforce a sail we have going over the pool.
Made a 20"W x 24"L x 3/16"T plate for my bench vise to sit on. (using a plasma in 100° heat is a bitch )
Mowed my yard that hadn't been mowed in 3 weeks (finally dry enough to mow). Going to have to remow it shorter today or tomorrow.

Got a set of pallet rack type shelves from a buddy (Homertaco) that were left overs from a Home Depot, they were 16' tall so I cut off 3' with the plasma so they fit into the pole barn. Got 3 shelves set up so far, maybe set the 4th rack up all the way on top for small light shit that I rarely use. Nice to have some storage space and get some of the axles and other drivetrain parts a bit organized. Just for reference, that A frame ladder is a 12 footer, gonna be fun climbing up to store everything, maybe build a staircase

It was indeed free, that's the only way I acquire things I don't "need" That's some serious weight on those shelves, not sure how much these are rated for but I see giant shit on the home depot shelves all the time

Repaired the main water line to one of my mom's rent houses yesterday. Damn fitting broke where it connected to an old hose bib.

Also spent a few hours organizing my garage and putting things away. Got about half way done
