Going to start with 2 gallons of bleach each week and see what happens.
Did some research and draining a gunite pool can damage it.

I was thinking of letting it run to the driveway and then to the street and gutter drain. The kind of heat we have had lately a decent bit would evaporate before it got too far. Worst case someone would call the city and they would come inspect what is going on and do something about it.

Depending on soil characteristics, some pools you can't leave empty or they could float during heavy rain periods.

Just buy the pool shock from HD or Lowes it will last longer than the bleach.

I wouldn't touch the guy's property. You're just asking for a lawsuit or a trespassing complaint against you. Just report it to the HOA or the city and let them deal with it.

I definitely wouldn't add chemicals or anything to the guys pool. That's just asking to get sued. "You poured x amount of chemical into the pool and now my pool pump doesn't work" or some BS like that. Also, draining an in-ground pool can/will damage it over time.

But just a FYI for anyone needing a cheap pump, the ones at Harbor freight aren't half bad. You can get the extended warranty for cheap and just replace it when it burns out in a year.

After reading over the city codes there are a handful of things that need to be addressed. Filed a complaint with the city so we will see what happens. Did some research and the owners son who was living there the last few months is actually an attorney in New York so i have to assume he knows better than to leave a house in that shape.

Found out he is not an attorney but works at a law firm advocating for those injured by negligence. Yea he knows better than to leave a pool gate open that a kid could just walk up to it and fall in.

Agree/but disagree to some extent... you need to protect your home value, do it and don't say a word or get caught, we conceal carry because we don't wait on the cops response time to be there when we're in trouble. Red tape of the hoa(volunteer hoa?) and city can be very slow in cases like this

The pool needs to be addressed, don't need cess pool and if a kid were to wonder back there, you will never see them dead below the surface.

All it takes is a phone pic of you trespassing on someone's property...

Also, to protect your home value will be a hard sell in court. You'll need to prove that you were planning on selling your home soon or that the neighbors neglect was causing physical damage to your property...

That's why they sell Travon hoodies to wear, skittles not included.

Thanks for the info. Complaint filed with city and called the realtor that listed the House. She said they did sell it to an investor so they have had plenty of time. Based on my cameras no one has come to the house to even look at it.

Wife planted two Knockout rose bushes. One in the front yard is a fucking monster. I need a gas powered pruning saw on a pole to trim it back.. I tried with a gas powered hedge trimmer. Not enough. One in the backyard I used a machete (it doesn't need to be pretty.. fuck that thing).. anyhow, that bastard fought back. I think I have about 10 new holes in my hands I did not have before. lol

If I was drunk it might not have hurt so much.

Lost this monster yesterday. Water in the soil made it give way. It was our biggest water oak on our property. :( And it was my favorite treerat killing zone. For some reason tree rats love stopping on it. Guess what my day will consist of today? lol

Damn that sucks. I suspect there will be a lot more of that in the next few days. Looks like there will be plenty of firewood in Houston this year.
