Pretty sure you have moles like me. That is a gopher.
I have tried several things for the damn moles and nothing has seemed to be worth my time or money.
Ah. Yeah just regular ol moles for me. May try putting acetylene down the hole and hitting it with a match.

Nice. Ive got a ton here. Was that hole already there? They have no openings in my yard just a ton of tunnels

Surface Tunnels = moles.
Mounds = gophers.

The one I killed today is a Tx pocket gopher.
Unfortunately I have both, but that trap works on both, except you need 2 traps for moles because you don't know which side of the tunnel they are on.

You guys figure out how to get rid of moles, let me know.

I can catch live moles by sinking a 3" PVC pipe into the ground, I should probably relocate them to help other neighbors out.

The grass and weeds on our property is over 15in tall, so it has to be mowed twice to knock everything down, and that's with newer blades on both machines. I put my son on the smaller 42" ZTR, and I was mowing with the 52" ZTR along the fence lines and around all the trees and couple known stumps, then I followed behind him, we got 1.5acs cut yesterday evening in less than an hour. He cut on acre on Saturday which took almost 2 hrs.

I only mow outside the main yard atmost 3 times a year, last 2 years only twice in the back, 3 up towards the road.

Another 1.5acs needs to be mowed, or shall I say my son has another 1.5acs to mow, because he wants another pair of $120 shoes. So I gave him the option, no work and I buy shoes from Wally Mart or help mow, there are no complaints in helping dad out now. :D

Moles ate my moms entire tomato crop this year and she's pissed. They dug under her fence and cleaned her out. She's now setting rat traps after she set her live traps and some mouse traps with little/no luck.

If I ever build a garden, I will have to trench and bury heavy gauge 1/2" wire mesh or metal roofing around the perimeter.

Yea, Ive seen some gardeners here get cleaned out by just mice alone in their raised beds inside their greenhouses. With the temp change over the weekend I got an influx of field mice looking for warmth ~ Got two yesterday in my traps. Been in my house for 14 years now and still can't figure out how they are getting in. Ive filled so many cracks with stainless steel mesh and caulk it makes my head spin.

Sink a tube with a end cap about 12in long vertically in the ground between tunnel, cover with dark towel. I used them at the old house, I used an electrician 2ft drill bit to losen soil because the post hole digger dug up too much

That's for a live catch, there are plenty of other tube type products that kill the moles

I don't see much mice, snakes, hawk and owls do a pretty good job down here.

First we got chickens. Then we got mice. Then rats. then cats.

Now we just have chickens and cats. Oh, and moles....

A decent number of people in my subdivision want chickens. I keep trying to explain to them that they are not pets and will attract more problems to the neighborhood.

I understand the reasons for having them but not when the person has less than a quarter acre to live on. The chickens will end up in a coop 24/7.
