Cleaned up my garage, wired in a new GFI to replace the broken one outside my garage door, fixed my garage door so it's rolling smoother now and installed a new cover plate on an outside outlet at my mom's after someone broke the existing cover.
I tried to wire up a new exterior motion activated flood light but I dropped it after getting out of the box and broke it. So back to Homeless Despot for a swap out lol

I have no idea how I made it 14 years with no AC in my house, but I think I've become dependent on it already this spring. Been on for almost 5 days strait w/no end in sight. Here's to my electric bill not spiking to hundreds of dollars. Got it set at 78* when I'm home and 82* the rest of the day so still trying to be a little frugal.

You will find it cheaper to keep the house within the target temp +/- 3 degrees at all times. But yeah; it is nice to have.

when I hire an electrician for my house (and I need one bad) I'm calling this guy. Good to see some pride and craftsmanship on a jobsite

all of this will be encased in drywall and never seen again (if he did his job right lol)

Damn I love clean work like that. You can really tell a craftsman by the way he does things that nobody will ever see again. Then there are those "craftsman" who make something look like spaghetti throwup and call it a good job.

I need a guy to paint the exterior trim on the house, restain the large beam over the back patio and also redo my front door (the clearcoat is turning to shit and needs to be sanded down and redone) I was in Home Depot today and saw this guy who had his work shirt on, on the back it listed all the things he did... mostly paint and redoing wood type stuff. Perfect.. guy was with his family and they seemed very normal. I thought, that guy looks legit.. nice family, kids are well behaved, I'm gonna get that guys info and have him come give me a quote. Well I stopped before I got up to him to grab something thinking I'd catch up to him in a minute.. and within like 30 seconds he was gone as was the family. I looked around the store for 5 minutes and poof.. gone. Damn it!!

That sucks, but it was meant to be, is the way I look at those things. I have little trust in most contractors, and not to mention the quality of work most perform is not that great, maybe cause I’m type A when it comes to tackling a project. I will be painting my house probably this fall, along with gazebo and 3 car garage.

I totally agree.. I have ONE contractors name I give out and he and his crew do an awesome job. But they are $$$. And for the little that I want to have done its hardly worth their time. I just don't like to paint, hate it.. and I want a Pro to do the front door as its a big fucking door (42" wide and 96" tall... all wood and glass).. I don't want to have to replace it.

To redo and finish that door correctly it needs to be removed temporarily(3 days) so all the old finish can be stripped off, then stained and glossed UV/anti fade Spar Urethane

My dryer stopped drying last night. It's gas and still runs w/no codes so fingers crossed it's a blown overheat fuse or thermo coupler type issue. Spent good money on a higher end Maytag if there is such a thing lol and I can't say I'm happy about it breaking but I did get a good 13-14 years of overloading and treating it like crap under my belt. Ready to go out and hook up a clothesline until I can fix it. Last night I was putting clothes all over my lawn furniture trying to dry it out lol

That's my house. Bought foreclosed and previous owner was a electrician on crack. Him and his crackhead wife got busted in the middle of a B&E while their kids (all under 4yo) were sleeping in their car outside so they stopped making payments while in jail for the next year . My electric is FUBAR at best.

Stuff like this is what bothers me about buying a used house. I know sub contractors can do a crap job; but thankfully I have friends and family in residential construction that I will be using. But I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Unless you are watching your new home being built like a hawk, they will still fuck it up. Luckily for the last two I built I lived close by and woulds drop in daily to ensure they didn't miss anything. A friend of mine is building one maybe 3/4 mile away from mine and he stops by all the time and sadly, he has to make weekly appointments with the construction manager to point out stuff they missed... not to mention what he does not know is incorrect. (he's not a building code guy.. but he knows what he paid for.. like "hey where it the water outlet in the garage for a spigot?... or where is my speaker outlets in the patio area").. just sucks. I did the same.
