Our GE Cafe dishwasher last weekend (Friday night) was leaving a very grainy hard white film on everything! At first I thought maybe the new water softener got its settings jacked up (nope). It was just soap residue.. but things like black cooking utensils were now white! Wife was pissed. I Googled it.. seems that it was soap residue. I ran some citric acid powder (food grade.. you can eat it) though the dishwasher with everything still inside it and it came out spotless. Since then its been working fine. Don't know what caused it.. don't want to replace it.. new one is $1500. I'll keep an eye on it. But hey, citric acid powder works wonders. Inside of the thing looks brand new. Just a tip.

This is a drain pipe, no pressure on this pipe and this fix will out last my lifetime. Done.

Is that up to code?

Is that up to code?

yes sir.

If you cut the pipe you will end up adding more joints which will create more areas for the drain pipe to get clogged, you want the fewest joints in your drain pipes.

lol, show me in the Texas code for a residential house.
That's because no code writer could ever dream of a fix like that lol But my plumber I sit next to said "No, it's not to code...but it'll work". He said next time to use a no-hub coupling next time if you have the space for it (which you don't have in your case).

Then ask him to prove it “no, it’s not to code...”
You work by many regulations and guidelines correct?

Schedule 40 drain pipe, residential repair, house on septic, and not located within a mud dist or under any city ordinances.

It would take twice as much if not more force to penetrate that patch, it’s forever bonded with PVC cement, even after removing the hose clamp, verses any where else on that pipe sidewall where it would be single wall.

I bet you and your plumber like my repair fix. :)

Let him know that I sell repair kits for drain pipes(patent pending).

A 2in schedule 40 patch with TOR discount is $7.99 and that’s with shipping included. :D

Plumbing Pro Tip

Always buy more plumbing pieces and parts than you need, you can always return them at the store instead of making multiple trips.

I usually buy a crap load of different parts, it just sucks if your in middle of a plumbing project and you don’t have the right piece. Nothing sucks more to drive back to the store and grab addition parts.

lol the extras... that will be returned.

Open all packages with scissors and cut the bottom portion of the bag off. What ever parts or kit bags that you don’t end up using, you can put the parts back into the bag and reseal them using a food vacuum machine. Brand new again, lol

lol, show me in the Texas code for a residential house.

Sorry....I had to....lol. Codes are part of my daily routine. Pretty much all residential code calls for the same as listed below (not sure about TX)

P3002.3.1Drainage.Drainage fittings shall have a smooth interior
waterway of the same diameter as the piping served
. All fittings
shall conform to the type of pipe used. Drainage fittings
shall have no ledges, shoulders or reductions which can retard or
obstruct drainage flow in the piping. Threaded drainage pipe fittings
shall be of the recessed drainage type, black or galvanized.
Drainage fittings shall be designed to maintain one-fourth unit
vertical in 12 units horizontal (2-percent slope) grade.

now think hard about that quote even it’s not Texas Plumbing code, “smooth interior”

Now think about what I exactly did to retain that smooth interior and kept it to be smooth inside that existing pipe?

Show me where that patch is not approved, that maintained continuous smooth interior?

If you were to that cut section out and replace it, think about that coupler joint, the pipe will no longer retain a smooth interior. oh...

That's MUCH better! And since you covered up your hole, no one will ever check to see if the pipe behind the wall is up to code :D

Oh, its up to code, and I have proof to back it.

I must have been confused (long week) ~ I was posting the code in reference to the flex pipe.

I would of just sealed the hole with PVC glue lol
