X100 on the freezer being in the house. I have found i get into mine more often with it being in the house.

Well, this $99 chest freezer served me well for the last 10 or 12 years. GFCI went bad in the garage sometime in the last couple weeks and I didn't know. Luckily the loss of meat was minimal. The freezer still works but wife's been wanting a fridge for the garage so I'm chunking the freezer and getting a stand up fridge/freezer to replace it. Also trying to convince her that the laundry room is a much better place for the new one rather than in the garage. View attachment 67033

After bringing home a few hundred pounds of frozen fish a few years ago and putting in my chest freezer, I added these two both my kitchen freezer and chest freezer to give me a heads up in case one starts acting up. I did not want to risk not knowing since I don't check in on the chest freezer all the time.

Ordered a new fridge for the laundry room. Little more than I wanted to spend but it fit the bill perfectly (no ice maker, no water dispenser, bottom freezer) and my wife insisted on stainless if it wasn't going to be in the garage. But since it's going in the laundry room I'm having to redo the cabinets in there to make up for lost storage space. So I ordered two new wall cabinets and a base cabinet with drawers. I'm going to rip the current cabinets out tomorrow after work so my wife can paint the walls on Wednesday. Then the new cabinets will go in next weekend.

I did some chainsaw work today. Helping someone out that has fallen on hard times and been kicked. Helping get his house ready to sell.

Cut this giant stump off and then used a grinder to get it below the grass line. This little saw has seen some shit over the years. The 16" bar was buried in this stump as I worked my way around it.

$2k worth of tools to build a planter box for my wife out of dump wood lol Still need to add a weed barrier and go pick up a trailer load of dirt for this box and several other really low spots in my yard.

And I had a whole home filter system (non salt or water softener) put in yesterday to help get rid of excessive calcium in my cities water. For some reason, this neighborhood has a high calcium issue and it's clogging up my rain shower heads and leaving staining. We don't mind hard water but the clogged rain heads are getting really annoying.

Also got my kayak mounted on my side fence. I had to add onto the strap with some 1" webbing I had to extend the buckles out. Man is it nice not having this thing in the way anymore.

Before and after (during) of the laundry room project. Cabinets are in. Still need to trim them out tomorrow and go to my BIL's to rip a board to fill in the middle gap. Picking up a butcher block as well tomorrow after work for a countertop. I'm already regretting not moving that outlet on the side wall. Wanted to move it and bring the cabinet out enough to cover it so I didn't have to actually patch the hole but my wife wasn't on board. Maybe one day I'll move it up above the countertop. Maybe. Anyway, this is all that's getting done today. It's beer:30.

Move the outlet now or you'll never do it. Other that that, alright!

We decided to move our side fence from the front of our house to the back essentially making the side yard part of the front yard rather than the back. Set two galvanized poles yesterday morning and picked up all the lumber this morning. Wind is blowing more than I like so not sure if I'll get it put up today or not. Going to my buddy's new house to do some electrical work for him and then I'll reassess when I get home. Also picked up the butcher block yesterday for the laundry room counter and got it cut and set in place. Need to get it anchored down. Had to buy a 60x30 piece so I ended up with a 30x30 left over. Will probably make a nice cutting board out of the rest. Will give me a chance to mess around with my router that I never use.

Apparently we got high winds coming so I'd wait it out.

Yeah it's just been getting worse throughout the day. Fence will definitely be a next weekend project. Glad I got the poles set yesterday at least.

Winds are pretty intense here as well... I replaced 3 sides of our fence this past year and the other is about 5 years old and in good shape... so hopefully it doesn't come down.

Took the day off work today to knock out some stuff around the house since we have a completely full weekend and my next weekend off won't be for 3 weeks. Got the fence finished after not being able to do it last weekend do to the wind storm. Satisfied with the end result for the circumstances. It's harder than it sounds to hold the boards, keep them plumb, load the driver, and drive the screws with no extra hands. Or maybe 18 boards just wasn't enough for me to figure out the technique. Anyway, no one will ever see this fence anyway unless they're working on my AC unit. Once I feel like getting the table saw out, I'll rip a board to fill in that last little gap between mine and my neighbors fence.

Use a large clamp next time to hold em in place (It's what I did when I built my fence by myself). You can also start set a screw in the board so you don't have to worry about holding the drill, screw, & board next time.

I used clamps to hold up the runners while I put the lag screws in but didn't clamp every board.woudont have been a bad idea but hindsight is 20/20. I'd say I'll do it on the next one but I'm hoping this was the last one.

I had to build a section of the fence with screws in case my neighbor ever needed to swap out AC units, we could unscrew all the boards and then lift it out. So that's what I did for that section and the rest of the fence was built with a nail gun.

Hey y’all I need some smart home opinions. Googling is becoming overwhelming.

I just bought my first house (yay) and am looking to get some smart accessories. I want door locks, outdoor cameras/floodlights, doorbell, and thermostat. The house already has a MyQ garage opener. I am an Apple user. I am very familiar with Nest thermostats, Ring doorbells and cameras, and MyQ garage door because a previous house had these products.

Now that I have the opportunity to start fresh, I don’t know which is the best way to go. I have heard that Nest got worse after it became a part of Google, and I never really loved how my old Ring cameras only recorded when they detected motion. I missed events several times. Having cameras that record 24/7 and have a 7 day storage would be cool. That way they aren’t only active on motion, but I’m not sure if this is possible without big money for a Fort Knox style CCTV system.

I would prefer to also have everything in one app so I don’t end up with 5 different apps for garage, cameras, door locks, thermostat, and the alarm system,

TLDR - I’m looking for home cameras, doorbell, door locks, and thermostat that can easily be monitored from one app on my phone. Brownie points if the cameras record 24/7 and the company doesn’t sell all my data. I am an Apple user.
