which ones did you go with?

Ended up going with Moultrie A900. I like their story of how they started plus they got a few recommendations when I asked. I also like the ability to upgrade to cellular or 12v battery packs or 12v battery/solar down the line if I want to.

They now offer a 3 year warranty so long as you register them within 30 or 60 days and that's also pretty cool. I registered them as soon as I got them out of the packaging. Tested them indoors to see if they work in light and dark then placed them outside. I'll be making some sort of shield to keep some of the weather off of them. I took a walk in the daylight, at dusk, and at dark last night so Ill analyze the pics tonight and see what I need to do to get really good range and pics. Right now I have no pic delay so Ill have to change that because I'm sure it prob took 20 pics each time I walked by it.

You can see the red led "flash" for the IR so thats the only downside of not getting the A900I model that you can't see the flash of. I'm not concerned with that because I also have motion lights that go on so they will distract from the red "flash".

Pics will prob come out crappy because I had my motion lights pointing at one of the trail cams. Tonight Ill adjust them to both be pointing the same direction.

the one thing I'm not a fan of is they tell you to not use rechargeable batteries. I stopped buying batteries years ago so Ill need to look into that. I have a TON of Panasonic Enloop Pro batteries so I really don't want to waste money on batteries that just get thrown away when they are used up.

Good deal, I definitely recommend using the 12v external power cord with the 12v deer batteries, you should only have to charge the battery twice a year for your use. Batteries in the trailcams heat up from outside temperatures and direct sun exposure to the cameras and the batteries will corrode.

I didn't think of heat. Welp good thing you said that - I was going to fashion clear roofs out of 1/2" Lexan cut offs from work to keep them dry and now Ill use cedar to block the all UV's and rain

I make my camera shelters out of by cutting those 1 gallon plant buckets in half, makes 2 roof shelters.

I was going to use two pocket screws and a lid with a 45* angle on the back to secure it to my fence posts separate from the cameras. Now Ill prob just use cedar.

Mine has been in direct sunlight over 10 years and that has never happened.

good to know, could be Duracell and Rayloc crap batteries and/or you have better camera

but, I don’t have that issue anymore, and it’s real nice to have the deer feeder batteries last all season and just swap cards.

Ill post a pic later but I'm choking on plexi and lexan. you could build a few greenhouses with the cut offs we have from covid guards @ work. already filled my moms SUV up to the top once and my car once. Now my car is filled again today.

Off to go 'let people go' on my jobsites - this should be fun (worst part of my job IMHO)

best night pic when I was walking by last night. camera needs to be moved to a total different location. this was just a temp test to see what kind of FOV I'd have. its basically on the ground in the pic so once raised it should be better w/less ground reflection.

best day pic. IDK about this 30mp rating on the camera.... Ive got a few 12mp cameras that are much clearer in daylight, but you can def tell exactly who I am so thats good.

That's Mr Asshole to you
My buddy shot a good size big this evening. We were filling feeders and checking cards when I spot a tail twitch. 7mag to the face with a head on shot and it was DRT.
