Got the feeder bought this afternoon but my leg wasn't up to going to get the truck and loading it up. So we'll pick it up this weekend before my dad heads up to the land. He's going to get it all set up for me while he's there monitoring the building, power, and septic install the next two weeks. Hopefully I'll get a chance to go out there soon and give him a hand and actually see the place.

Yeah, will be 4 hours away from home for this and will be five does over 2 days.
Yeah fuck that, I've skinned out 3 at one go and swore I'd never do that again. 2 is a pita.

This is where I would take my stuff to be processed.

It was close to home. We'd put the meat in the cooler with some ice and drive it home.

The guide recommended the local taxidermist/ processor that does almost all their work. I am going to call them to confirm they will take the does in July and check a few other things out. I tried talking my sammich maker into an axis pelt purse but she is not going for it. lol

I do not want to guess how much that would cost. The purse idea had me choking a bit.
Seat covers got to be less. Just get the hide tanned and do it yourself

Going to get them tanned for use on the couch and such. There is a place in Denton that is supposed to be one of the best places in the US.

I got a Havalon folding knife with disposable blades for a Christmas present awhile back and love it. Makes cleaning deer really quick since the blades are so sharp.

I have the Outdoor Edge one or whatever it's called with the disposable razor blades. It's been great so far.

Picked up my feeder this morning and got it hooked up and tested. It works great and the 12v motor is beefy and very quiet. Also got my Tactacam Reveal X in today. Got it all setup and ready to go. Will be nice being able to check the pictures from my phone.

That uses a cell signal?

Yeah the camera uses an AT&T 4G SIM card (also available for Verizon) to upload the pictures and then I can view them in an app on my phone. My dad's been using the original Reveal camera for a year or two now and has had great results. The one I bought is the Reveal X. It's just a newer model of the same camera he has.

Sweet. I have one I'd bought for work we were using out in E-Tx, but never used that feature on it. My personal camera (cheap pos) puts out a wifi signal that works with a phone app for live view etc, but the range is only a few 100ft.

I saw those but was not sure how well they worked. If they are worth it I would be willing to get one. The ones I saw worked best with a monthly plan like $5 or $10

This one is $13 a month for unlimited photos. 500 photos/month is $8 a month. And there's a couple plans smaller than that. It's also cheaper if you pay yearly rather than monthly but I didn't want to do that in case it turns out to be a POS. Getting my money back for the data plan would probably be a pain in the dick. Once I go a few months without issues, I'll probably switch over to a yearly plan to save a few bucks. And I can probably go down to one of the smaller plans. Doubt I'll be getting more than 500 photos a month but I'll give it a few months to see exactly what plan I need. For now, $13 a month is way cheaper than driving 7 hours round trip just to check the cards.

This one has the wifi output too so you can get a live view for setting it up and also for changing the setting on your phone. But I couldn't get it to work. It connected but I couldn't ever get the live view to display on my phone. Oh well. I'll check the placement the old fashioned way.

Lot of cleanup going on today. Skid steer finished up the dirt work for the electric company and the shop/RV cover early so he started clearing brush and damming up the draw I'm hunting to have a water hole if it ever rains. Also built a road from camp to where my stand is going to be so I don't have to go out the front gate, around the property, and in the back gate to get to my feeder and stand. Cleaned up around 5 acres around my feeder/stand so far.
