Took my idler pulley about a year to finally got out. The best way I can descibe the sound of it, is that it sounded like I had a super charger... 
Edit- that's what it sounded like before the bearing finally let go. When it did go it sounded like a wrench being thrown around by the fan.

I replaced the belts, timing belt, water pump, and thermostat. This went from a slow trail rig build to a "I need a running vehicle asap build" It had only turned over a few times in the 8 months I owned it and was only driven around the block twice before now. Drew is basically doing all the troubleshooting on it now.

Bearing fails and the belt falls off lose anything driven off the serpentine

You may also want to think about replacing the fan at the same time 'cause they have been known to disintegrate and go through a hood!
Could my problems with the LX be the result of the timing chain slipping? Was talking to a my neighbor who is a boat mechanic, and he mentioned it as a potential cause of the problem since it happened all of a sudden. 1FZ-FE is a non-interference timing chain motor. It's not an easy diagnosis or fix, but at least it's not expensive if that IS it

pull the plugs, set it at TDC and check the timing/actual piston location.

Dropped it off at the body shop to get it fixed. I have a shitty dodge charger for a rental....what a turd. I pulled it in to wash the bug shit off and left it running while I soaped it up, damn thing wa blowing bubbles at all the door handles and around every window
Video of doughnuts and e-brake turns would be required to validate claim that you have a rental car. That is all.

I think the noise is indeed the alternator. Propped the gas pedal while inspecting so I could hear the noise more loudly and that's where it seamed to be coming from. Sprayed a bunch of WD40 in it got much quieter. I don't have any doubts that the bro who sold the 4Runner to Eric blew through a mud puddle from time to time in this thing, so no surprise it would go out.
