Define "awhile"?
and no offense to Eric but did you check the belts?
You could also rebuild it for cheap
What sucks is that those damn things cost about $70. Any consequence to letting it just chirp for awhile?
Took my idler pulley about a year to finally got out. The best way I can descibe the sound of it, is that it sounded like I had a super charger...
Edit- that's what it sounded like before the bearing finally let go. When it did go it sounded like a wrench being thrown around by the fan.![]()
Dropped it off at the body shop to get it fixed. I have a shitty dodge charger for a rental....what a turd. I pulled it in to wash the bug shit off and left it running while I soaped it up, damn thing wa blowing bubbles at all the door handles and around every window![]()
I replaced the belts, timing belt, water pump, and thermostat. This went from a slow trail rig build to a "I need a running vehicle asap build" It had only turned over a few times in the 8 months I owned it and was only driven around the block twice before now. Drew is basically doing all the troubleshooting on it now.
I think the noise is indeed the alternator. Propped the gas pedal while inspecting so I could hear the noise more loudly and that's where it seamed to be coming from. Sprayed a bunch of WD40 in it got much quieter. I don't have any doubts that the bro who sold the 4Runner to Eric blew through a mud puddle from time to time in this thing, so no surprise it would go out.
Video of doughnuts and e-brake turns would be required to validate claim that you have a rental car. That is all.

Us youngins gotta learn the hard way. I stay out of the mud now. Mud is teh ghey
Keith is a lying bastard.. its almost 11 PM and no pics of said rental car doing donuts or e-brake turns. Complete bullshit.![]()
