What have you done to your ride lately?

Thinking about something like this: I would like to keep it no more than about 6 inches over the top of the cab.

Thats gonna be awesome! I like the look of a shorter rack, not to mention it helps keep gravity from snagging your rig and setting it on its side.

I like the RTT's but are you going to keep it on your rig while you wheel? I guess its different if you mount it over the bed, but I always thought it would be a hassle to have to break camp everyday and then go wheel with that thing on my roof.

I'd like to balance the height with the function... Regarding wheeling, time will tell - I try to keep things low - my truck is actually lower than most for that reason too. I still get places and it sounds ugly at times. I'm contemplating raising it to about 2.5 or 3 (its at about 1.5 now). I have A/P 3 (really not 3") rear springs. I will be visiting Deaver soon to have them build some good springs. :) Sean, what's the ht of your front fender from the ground on Silver?

Most all of the wheeling I do are longer trips where I typically end up is somewhere different than I started. We'll see. I can always bring the tent and keep the weight at home! :) Having recently seen them in action, they are pretty damn cool - I'll update you in 6 months! I also thought the Wet O's were cool too - they feel too sweaty so they lasted a couple of months and came off! I hope the tent provides me with a better value... Zoom is very cheap so, I have a feeling it may offset some hotel trips!!! ;)

Right at 39.25" through the center of the hub on driver side, 39.1 on the passenger side.

I had to think a little about what a "Wet O" was... all I could think was dirty thoughts. LOL :D

Zoom is the GF right?

Okay on my way to getting it back up... my truck that is... My All Pro?/ Malaysian springs have sprung - 3" is now about 1". I spent a half hour with the Deaver guys... about $700 later I hope to have a custom pack built - seems pricey but I just getting a bit tired of putting shit on and having to replace it a year later!!! That's why I now have Camburg UCAs... So anyway now I have to get to the bottom of my front end - I have the coils cranked down about 4 inches and I am still about 1.5-1.75 lower than everyone else. I am going to call Sonny at DSMS and see what to do. I have some heavier springs for the front but I am rethinking that and wondering if I really want to change the spring rate. I'm now thinking maybe I should get the same rate but either longer or have mine 're-arch'd' per se.

Any thoughts?

Have you thought about the dakar leaf packs? Their about 200$ cheaper than deaver and give you great flex/towing capacity.

Edit: just reread that you bought the deavers. When are supposed to get them in?

I've thought about Dakar too. The nice thing about the Deavers are that they will custom build them and tweak to suit taste.

Thanks for the suggestion. Now I have to fix the front end! - Has anyone put on the A/P gussets? I have a set that BajaMoon gave me but I just haven't gotten around to it! :o

You can always get stiffer coils up front. With that Shrockworks bumer and winch I would put in stiffer rated coils. If you look at the coil it will have what the spring rate is on it. Probably 650.. if its 600 that really explains the lack of lift. But you can get a 700 lbs coil if you want, with that bumper and winch combo it would probably ride pretty nice actually. Another thing you can do is buy longer coils. I bought 2" longer coils and installed them. Kept the spring rate the same and in effect I gave it the same amount of pre-load to get the desired lift, but I don't have as much thread on the body showing and my coils are not almost touching as they would be on the shorter coil. If I could have got a stiffer rate coil I would have went that route. But check your coils, if they are 600 then just get some 650's. But if they are 650 then you have the option to go stiffer or longer. Sounds like a Viagra commercial doesn't it?

Are you referring to the spindle gussets? I installed a set of TC ones on mine. Pretty easy, just removed the tire and UCA bolt. Just don't heat that spindle in one spot too much, it will deform.

Speaking of Dakars, has anyone ever seen the Dakars over flex and deform any? Mine looked a little funky, I'm gonna measure side to side ride hieght and make sure I'm not seeing things.

Yeah I was thinking about doing it on the truck instead of taking everything apart as A/P suggests.

I have some 650's (may be 700's - don't you hate when you buy shit and don't remember?! They were powdercoated so no markings). I will check my springs today.

I wish I had a barn! Too much stuff in the garage!!! I better buy that barn with the outhouse and, now I can sleep in the RTT!!! :D

I think TC recommended to take it all apart as well. But it wasn't necessary. I did have to do some grinding and cutting to make them fit properly though, not much, but it wasn't a direct fit out of the box.

Oh man, that sucks they are covered over.

A barn would be awesome... have you ever checked out the Garage Journal forum? Some of the garages over there are just amazing.

Sean, you should not have shown me that. I think I just reached the part of my work day where I realized that I wasn't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

I hear ya.. there is enough content there to keep a person non-productive for a long long time. :)
