What have you done to your ride lately?

Didn't realize it was yours. Figured with the Ferd so new that it was for the Mrs. Excellent man. What color? I'm sure you posted pics already but I'm too lazy to go searching. :)

Nice man. Are you doing an expo build style?

Keeping it simple. Sliders, skids and tires. Maybe a swanky roof rack but that would be later. I would like an ARB fridge for it but not a necessity right now.

Oh the ARB fridge is a necessity! :)

Exactly! This is the easiest way to keep your beer cold for lunch while you are at work.

The easiest way is to just bring it inside with me and put it in the fridge. Done it several times before.

My ARB is in the garage right now with beer in it. It's been running 24/7 since I bought it. Love the thing like a child.

Well I just ordered an SPOD for the taco. Time to get this thing rewired. Tired of have a rats nest under the dash. I won't be using the switches that it comes with though. I have the ones from OTRATTW. But it's time.

Threw a coat of wax on my truck. You know it's bad when the water won't run down or come off with a microfiber cloth. lol The paint jobs on these tacomas are so shitty.

Oh yeah. All the wiring I have is solid.. but I put it in one item at a time. No central harness or location for anything. So this should help. I plan to pull a lot of things completely out and totally rewire them, not just run them to the SPOD.

I have wondered about that. Figure I will start with the cheap parts first. Hopefully between the fuel filter and timing I can get this sucker running again. The comprehension numbers make me really wonder if it has a blown gasket like was originally expected.

Fuel filter has been replaced. I have to question Toyota's motive for putting a fuel filter on the block above the starter. A$$holes. It starts up and falls into a 2 cylinder idle just like before. The old filter was pretty heavy compared to the new one though - but it does not appear to have been the source of this problem unless it let some junk by and it clogged an injector.

Curious can you spray ether or some kind of starting fluid into the intake to see if it evens out the idol, that should at least tell you if you should be looking at the fuel system or the ignition. I wouldn't suspect a head gasket at this point unless you've got chocolate milkshake in your oil or coolant.

So I've decided to work on my 81 a little. I've had a stereo for the thing for about 9 months to a year and its still sitting in boxes in the garage (Kenwood Excelon single DIN headunit with flip out screen, bluetooth and GPS, Excelon 4 channel amp (75x4 IIRC), pair of 6.5" Excelons speakers, 5.25" Excelon speakers, Kenwood hideaway powered sub).. pretty simple system. My plan was to build kick panels for the 6.5" speakers and add the 5.25" ones to the rear of the door.. sorta firing into your sides. Not ideal, but I'm limited on choices. Sub behind one seat, amp behind the other. Now for the kick panels. I was strolling through Home Depot and saw these roof vent flashing dealios. Made from pretty thick poly or some sorta rubber material. Anyhow.. presto.. instant kick panel. I'm still in mock-up stage but I think I'll add some Dynamat (or similar) to the backside of them and the either just screw them on or if I get ambitious I'll fiberglass them and make them a little pretty. Probably just mount them and forget it. Anyhow... a few pics.

I got them just mounted for now. Mounted the amp as well. Need to wire them up still. I seem to have misplaced the bracket to mount the sub... so instead of it being on the back wall it might be on the floor for now. But the radio might be an issue. No room! I will have to move the HVAC controls and the gauges to make room for it. Plus the dash sticks out over the area the radio mounts in, so I'll need to build a "box" or something to push the radio out so that the flip up screen won't hit the top of the dash.

Don't mind all the crap on the floor, I took the doors apart to make room for the speakers. Those are another problem.

Just changed my rear diff oil. Only a few very small slivers in the oil. Need to put a bore scope in the unused abs sensor hole to get some good pics of the ring gear. I can not ell you how much I appreciate getting that e'locker out of my truck.

I got my high angle boots from ORS. Seem very high quality. I'm wondering if I can get a second set and use them on the outers. Anyone know if the boots are interchangeable? I'm guessing they are not, but they do look pretty similar. Just never measured or seen it done.
