That's a great question and the biggest problem is I'm so damn tired from working until 3 am that I can't remember!!!

Second battery (well actually only the lead to the solenoid since there is a 00 gauge cable that goes from the solenoid to the second battery), new lead to the main fuse and relay distribution block, winch, new lead to the starter and, for the life of me, I have no idea what the other one was!!!!

I ordered a new starter for mine on Sunday from Rock Auto. How hard was it to change?

Not hard at all. Remove the little flap in the wheel well. Remove the starter cable and ground wire from block - oh yeah, discon the bat first! Then unbolt the two retaining bolts for the starter. Then pull the bolt that holds down the hard brake line onto the frame on the driver's side tire (oh yeah - easier if you remove the tire. Then disconnect the steering wheel to drop the part that goes into the rack. Pull the starter and then the reverse to install. Many would argue that you would be better off changing the hardware (two shouldered bolts and nuts) that connects the steering coupler to the stub out of the rack. Easy Peasy

/\/\ This. But I didn't remove the steering shaft or the brake lines, I jimmied mine through the headers and down by the front driveshaft. The top bolt on the starter is a bitch to get to, having the 1" body lift really helped there, if not you'd have to use a ujoint type socket to get to it.

Cool. I didn't think it would be too difficult. Wasn't sure if there was any "Gotcha's".

And don't forget to disconnect the battery, there's a hot 12v that's wired directly to the starter solenoid!

I removed the clutch slave cylinder cover and the front diff connection to the driveshaft and shimmied it down that way. Being I have a manual tranny and Doug thorley long tubes if you have the stock headers with an auto tranny it might be different. Also be careful not to break the vent tubes from the starter solenoid and motor! Install took me about 3 hours. The Toyota FSM recommends removing the exhaust manifolds, fuck that, I got a quote of $900 for them to change it

$900!! Damn.. well now I wish I had headers. Its still not here yet, supposedly tomorrow. So baring weather turning to shit, looks like that's my weekend project.

We managed to get a little better than half way done. The work was done over at Bob's house with Aaron and Robert helping.

The only unexpected problem (but to be expected) was I discovered why the parts rig did not have the front drive shaft. The idiot who had that 4Runner managed to jam the pinion into the ring gear and lock up the 3rd member. Thankfully the rear 3rd member is in good shape so I'll just use it after I finish rebuilding the front axle.
