Since I can do a wheel bearing in 32 minutes now, I'm guessing I should have it all wrapped up in less than a couple hours if the tool works properly. Not a problem

Faster flat rate time equals more beer drinking time!

For smooth operation make sure the notched side of the puller is centered behind the needle bearing before you start to tighten and remove it. That's all the advice I got for ya. Pretty easy job overall.

Finished it up in 3 hours. Had issues with some burrs I created pounding the bushing in that needed to be dremeled down, along with the rust on the Lurry's spare CV that I put in as well.

Tossed out the clothes I was wearing. I'd never get the gear oil smell off them...

Next up: Some temporary 5125s in the rear until I can get a hold of Chad's Icon resis. The 5125s will be for sale in a month at a discount if anyone is needing rears...

So... to change the lower ball joints on a 2wd pickup, you have to pretty much disassemble the whole spindle. I'm doing the brake rotors at the same time anyway, but now I wish I would have also bought some new bearings since I have everything torn apart anyway.

In the process, though, I discovered that it would be really easy to fab up some custom lift spindles :)

fyi

the state of texas soon will stop issuing inspection stickers and transition
to a "two steps, one sticker" vehicle inspection and registration program as
a result of a new state law. Beginning march 1, 2015, vehicles will no
longer be issued an inspection sticker. Your registration sticker will serve
as a combined proof of registration and inspection.

Why you'll love "two steps, one sticker":

One sticker, one date: Are you one of the millions of texans whose
inspection sticker and registration sticker expire in different months? With
"two steps, one sticker" you will just have one sticker with one expiration
date.

Less clutter, better view: Who wants multiple stickers in their view while
behind the wheel? With "two steps, one sticker" you will just have the
familiar blue-bordered registration sticker in the corner of your
windshield.

Safer streets, cleaner air: Because a passing vehicle inspection will be a
requirement to renew your registration, more texans will comply with the
safety and emissions testing laws. So with "two steps, one sticker" there
will be safer and more environmentally sound cars on the road.

Fraud prevention: With inspection stickers no longer needed under "two
steps, one sticker," this change will eliminate the risk of inspection
sticker fraud and theft.

For more information, visit the new "two steps, one sticker" website.

try to get as many free months out of this before it takes effect, my truck has 7/17 for my next Reg sticker, so no more insp until Mar2018?

TX BS

For example:
Registration sticker expires 3/15
Inspection sticker expires 9/15
The owner will be able to renew registration in March 2015 and not have to get the vehicle inspected again until 2016 because the inspection sticker is valid at the time of renewal (inspection sticker expires 9/15).
The following year, before the end of March 2016, both inspection and registration will be due.
