I got this in tonight. I wanted to install it tonight but it's too damn cold and rainy.

So I installed this yesterday on the inner. I'm not recommending anyone else install it yet. It doesn't fit the triangle shape of the axle and I'm not sure if its going to leak or yet.

It's a common problem. I think is has to do with the vastly increased cooling ability of modern aluminum radiators over the old brass ones.

That would make sense. I had the OE radiator in my 85 and my 91 also has the same... I have a brand new one (nice all metal 3 row) but I haven't installed it. I should, my radiator is PACKED with crap in the fins.

Hmm.. thats odd. I never saw that with my 85 22re nor my 91 22re. Weird shit man. Sounds like you got it nailed though.

I've never had it on my 89, but I did just found that I had a nice leak from the rear heater hose. Plugged it up for now, I'll need to run some new hoses if I want to keep that rear heater.

There was a TSB on it way back when, you could either get the 2 stage t-stat or drill the holes

Well I have bad news for my install as well. Got the skidplate off, diff drained, pulled the passenger side axle and disassembled it then discovered that the inners won't work. The High Angle boots are far too big. The inner diameter is about 3.5" and the outer diameter of the 930 CV boot face is about 2.5". So thats a no go. The OEM boot has triangular shaped cutouts and moldings so its a no go as well. So I have a hover truck at the moment. I'll call RCV on Monday and see what they have. In hindsight I should have called them to begin with. I also noticed that at one point I must have overextended the shafts and it bent the inner mounting flange. Not really bad.. I'll try to bend it back or just leave it.

I decided to be a responsible truck owner and washed the dirt/road grime off of it after all this snow. I probably spent more time washing the undercarriage than I did the actual paint.

Also, even though it was about 39 degrees out. I shut the doors and fired up the salamander heater in the corner and it was t-shirt weather in the garage. I did have to open the doors when cleaning parts though. The combination of propane heat and parts cleaner fumes was a bit overwhelming. But once the air was clear it was fine.

Well RCV just shipped out their high angle neoprene boots for my inner CV's. Should be here by Friday and I'll get it put back together.

I can't seem to find the link... but does anyone recall the thread with the part numbers for front end parts? Since I have the front end torn apart I figure now is as good a time to replace the tie-rod ends as any.

Oh and I bent that boot flange back to "damn close" to normal. Close enough. New ones are $50 or so... it will work. :)

Edit - after looking at it from a photo I think I'll give it a touch more ballpeen lovin.

Did you remove the topper in favor of a roof rack?
