What have you done to your ride lately?

Well I managed to f*ck up my E-Locker somehow. Not bad.. it just won't disengage. I usually engage it a few times a month, just to keep things moving back there. But this time it stuck! Time to jack it up and see if I can get it to release.

Damn it. Now I have to make a set. It will be super easy. Not sure if I'll stick to the long bolt or switch to two small bolts. I'll swap them out when I redo my suspension (for like the fourth time). That bolt was a megabitch when I did the uca's. Maybe I should give this 2 bolt setup some more thought.

Fuck, I hate you guys. More jobs to do. The death spiral continues...

Well hurry up, I need to swap out my UCA bushings and at the same time I might try to do the two bolt setup as well. But I'll let you go first. :)

Easy enough to see if the rack is not moving... If you have to remove the 3rd, have you tried this yet?

I haven't tried that stuff! I'm hoping that I can just pull the locker motor and use a screwdriver to slide the fork over. I hope I don't have to pull the 3rd... I already need to pull the 3rd on Clyde this week (weekend more likely).

Isn't there a flat head screwdriver adjuster to cycle it without removing anything?

You have to remove the locker motor, only 3 bolts, to cycle it by hand.

So I jacked it up and no matter how I spun and tried to unlock it I couldn't. So I pulled the inspection plate (2 screws) and the locker motor and locker armor. At first it wouldn't unlock, jacked with the tires some more to free up the bind and got it to unlock. Also tried to watch the locker motor spin when I pushed the dash button.... no luck! Not sure if its not getting power or its smoked. I have to go pick up the little one and if I get a chance later on tonight I'll check for power at the plug. Time to break out the FSM and find the schematic for the locker.

I've had to cycle it with the special tool below and I don't like to force things but sometimes you have to do what you have to do!

My brother used to rave about it. I don't think I will ever use RTV on a third ever again! Great Stuff! :)

You still pulled the locker motor though right? I don't know how you would do it without pulling it since the teeth are engaged.

I found a couple articles on how to rebuild an older locker actuator. Depending on if I have power back there or not, this weekend I might be rebuilding mine.

Yeah, motor pulled. But I've had my fair share of having it not wanting to engage. Maybe you have been abusing your truck by not following the Owner's Manual

...drive in 4x4 a minimum of 100 miles per month to keep all the components lubricated and moving...

Well I got a bit of good news. I hired a babysitter for a few hours (mother-in-law stopped by :) ) so I could wrench a little. Pulled the 3rd member on Clyde. Luckily there is only one little hole that needs to be filled. It was one of the original holes, it was just under the diff cover so it was not really visible. I'm letting the non-chlorinated brake/parts cleaner evaporate and then I'll fill it in. Also got a first had look at my rear end and what was really in it. Its an Eaton Detroit Truetrac. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DTL-913A611/
