Rob, did you ever get your Marlin Crawler stickers?

I just got two more in the mail I can send you if you want.

I got one but it is a little bit large (5" or so, just guessing) for what I had in mind. I wanted a pair of the smaller diameter ones to put on my front fenders. Thanks for offering but I "might" have some from Marlin on the way already, but I'm not telling. :)

Today was up and down, I did get a lot done, had a good friend (Keith) come and lend a hand, could not have done it without him, thanks a lot buddy. The new trans detent cable is installed and it seems to be working MUCH better, but the jury is still out on weather or not it is completely fixed. I did drive it around town a bit and I have 3rd gear now, but it still doesn't quite seem perfect. More on that later.

The body lift is done and went pretty smooth......well of course there where some problems. We had a hard time getting the body off the frame and did a little damage to BOTH front fenders with a high lift jack - but no big deal, I can fix it before I repaint, it's nothing toooooo bad. Man does the truck seem high with the body lift! Got the motor mount spacers in and temporarily stuck some 2x4's in the cross member since I am still waiting for my Bud Built to be delivered. I am VERY pleased with the height of my transfer case!! This is where things went south though, my trans mount is completely torn, I didn't realize it until I started lifting the trans off of the original cross member. I'm not sure what to do about it, have looked every where for a new one but there are none available to be had. Tons of aftermarket support for the manual transmissions, but no love for the autos, lol. I have a 02 tacoma mount laying around (thanks to Kurso) that I am thinking about cutting, welding, and overall adapting to fit.....more on that later. Also (my fault) I tore the rubber on the drivers side motor mount, it will for sure have to be replaced. I'm weighing out my options between stock replacement mounts and the Trail Gear "bomb proof " mounts. The TG's are a little more spendy of course, just trying to decide if it is worth the extra $$.

To top the day off, I cut the shit out of my finger while installing the motor mount spacers. I can see my bone! Knew it right away, my wrench slipped and I cut it on the sheet metal in the wheel well. I'm thinking about going to the urgent care and getting a few stitches. I know that when my wife gets home she will freak about it. Sorry no pics today, I'll get some up tomorrow. Just a bit discussted with the fenders, motor mounts, transmission mount and of course my finger. Gonna take a HOT shower and decide if I want pay out the ass to go sit in the waiting room for a few hours and watch the illegals get free care.

Thanks, the finger will live to be cut another day.

Fucking 4runner seems HIGH! 2" made a big difference, it also made a huge difference in where my transfer case sits. Overall I am very pleased with what I THINK the outcome of the DT lift will be.

I'll get some pics up once I get a shower, Keith has some he might post.

EDIT:

Thanks again Keith.

The truck seems damn tall with the BL installed. My 33's look pretty small.

Next to my 5 year old for reference, you can make fun of the flowers she put in my antenna hole if you want.

Motor mount spacers are in.....sorta, they are just sitting there since I still need to replace one of the mounts anyways.

Still waiting on my Bud Built so I had to stick some 2x4's in the stock crossmember to lift the trans. The t-case sites much higher.

Found a motor mount in my shed. It's Murphy's but from what I understand possesion is 9 tenths of the law.

Rear drive shaft to horseshoe crossmember clerance once the trans was lifted. Not even a 1/2" - No good.

Todd helped cut out tthe center section and add this new piece.

Maybe this is why my exhaust sounds sooooo bad? This is right behind where the flange bolts to the exhaust manifold.

Damn the garage is a mess.

I still need to:
Modify the mounts and put the gas tank back in higher.
Replace one motor mount and get the spacers bolted up.
Fix the exhaust pipe and weld new (shorter) hangers.
Figure out what I am going to do for a transmission mount - My rubber mount is completely finished
Get my new crossmember, paint it and get it installed.

I worked my butt off on this thing over the weekend and it doesn't seem like I got very far. Thanks Keith and Todd for helping out.

You can have the mount rob. We know I don't need it and I doubt it is worth anything but helping a bud in need

No problem bud, I am just glad you made it over on Saturday. I would have never gotten the BL installed by myself. Thanks again.

That there is a lot of good progress!

Is coming along I guess, a little slower than I had hoped but what can you expect?

You have done more than me, the King of slacking.

Thanks Chris but I am gonna keep using these 33's. I have too many things that I still need to throw money at already. Once I get this project done the next priority will be a trip to the exhaust shop and after that I had better lay low on spending for awhile.

What kind of tires and how much?

Thank goodness I had Todd's help with that. We did it differently than 4crawlers write up, he cut the cross member at the frame rails and lifted the whole thing. I think the way I did it is more than strong enough, stronger than it was before for sure, that it 3/8" plate notched and bent. The crossmember it's self is pretty cheesy really. Only thing it is holding up is the gas tank and some emegency barke stuff. I am not looking forward to cutting the excess lenght off, hell I might even just leave it, lol. It is going to take awhile to do that with a grinder and cut-off wheel.

Drop the DS and a right angle grinder looks like it might make it easier on you. Looks great though.

I found a transfercase mount on Ebay, new aftermarket for $53 shipped, says it will fit but I know that several people on Yotatech have had a hard time getting one that actually fits. Fingers crossed. Hope it ships quick.

Also got the set of Aisin manual hubs I ordered in the mail today. They are used but look to be in decent shape.
4 degree angled axle shims from Suspension Connection where delived today aswell.
