Thanks Chris, your rig is looking great BTW. You still plan on taking it to Jambo?

I found my original center console in a box of parts that came with the truck and was happy to find that the power window switch was still in it. Also had a window lock button? My front windows are manual so it must be for the rear. Bad news is that the wiring that the switches plug into is nowhere to be found. There was no tailgate on the truck when I got it so there is no telling. I have the new tailgate's wiring plugged in to the body harness, but the body wiring has a couple of quick splices and one wire that is broken but I cannot find the other end. I'm sure this is going to be fun to figure out. I really want to get that window working, I'm considering re-wiring the whole thing with the factory switch, and bypass all of the safety crap with the tail gate.

Great link, I think this is the info you are looking for http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/RearWindow.shtml

Thanks Sam, I like that YT link. If I can find the original wiring tucked up somewhere then I will try to repair it, but if not then I will have no choice but to wire it from scratch. If you come to Bryan this weekend to hit BVORR then I you should stop by and help me out.....if I don't get it by then anyways.

Hey, that works for me.. I think it's Sunday 2pm, so I will try and show up at your place a little early. More input on that later in the week! :D

I got started trying to fix my rear window last night, well sorta. I got the window to go up and down by jumping some wires to the battery, that in it's self is a win! I have decided for sure that I am going to completely re-wire the whole thing and by pass all of the saftey stuff. The way the window works is....2 wires from the window motor, touch one to pos and the other to neg it goes one way, switch the wires and it goes the other way. I will be using the original switch that goes in the center console, except I am going to put it in one of the knock outs in the dash for a clean look. I am also planning to tap into the original limit switches. I am FAR from an electrical engineer but I think Todd & I have figured out how to wire everything and have it work right. I bought everything I needed and started running wires, but still have a long ways to go.

Nice! I'll hold back the normally antagonizing remarks I post on your YT build and just say good luck! I assume you already have the wiring diagram?

I have the original diagram from 4crawlers site, but I made my own as to how it is going to be wired this time around.

But why is there only one? Seems to me that there should be one to stop the window from going to far up and one to stop the window from going too far down? I am already confused as to how to wire into it.

Maybe, I'll know more when I get back into it tonight.

Most of those things have a Hall effects switch inside the motor..

Could you tell by looking at the wiring diagram? Mind giving it a look over for me? I don't see it.

That limiting switch is built in the motor, it won't be on the diagram. I have opened them up before and seen it, but not on Toyota.. I Honestly have no idea how Toyota does it.. but the ones I have seen have limiting built into the motor via position switch like hall effect. BMW puts a pressure switch in the window seal incase you get your little fingers stuck, it doesn't crush them. When you change the motor, you have to initialize the position with the window switch (mainly for that Auto-Down and up function).

Reading my new 4WD Toyota Owner, they have a whole write up on installing a Grant steering wheel in a 4runner like yours...lol
