It affects it, I'm not sure how much yet. It's not any more of an obstruction than most aftermarket tire gates.Good idea. How does having the tire higher affect your rear visablity?

That's the plan here come some picsYou might want to add some steel to the upper portion and then add some top mounting bolts. Thats a lot of weight to be hanging on by only two bolts, not to mention the surface area they attach to has been diminished. I'd just hate to see that tire break free and go bouncing down the road.
Nope, gonna do flush mounthttp://www.harborfreight.com/automo...0-lb-capacity-step-bumper-receiver-67158.html you could get one of these and weld it in they are cheap
No way it would work. Flipping it would put it in the middle of my tailgate,You could just flip it over like I did, you'll have to make some new brackets since you cut yours. When I flipped mine it put the reciever just under the bed and bar flush with the frame rails. Don't worry about the rust thats either 3/16 or 1/4 steel and that rust is no where near compromising to it's strength.

Mine looks nothing like that. The bottom of the frame is up higher than the bottom of the tailgate, so the hitch is dropped down about 12" from there. So where does the frame sit in relation to the bottom line of your tailgate? This is what mine looked like and I simply fliped it over and bolted it back into the same location.
Nope I'm in the office today. I'll probably be home early this afternoon though since Christa has my wallet which means no lunch money, hey drew you at the house i might drop that welder off and run by a shop to get some new tips for it
