Finally got some range time with the XDm the other day. Overall I think it is a great pistol. The concern about the short barrel was put to rest pretty quick once I adjusted my grip for the compact frame. The accuracy was about the size of my outstretched hand for the first couple mags and tightened up as I adjusted my grip. I do not care for the trigger and it better shape up quick or it is going to upgraded. The sights could use some work; but for 90% of what it is doing it will be fine. The 9 shot compact mag is great; but the 13 round is hilarious. I have not shot a high cap pistol in years so I was getting used to that again.

Overall I think I will like it and will probably transition to using it for a CCW as soon as I get another compact mag here so I can have a reload.

*All shots were fired at a target at 10 yards. I will admit I prefer the sights and trigger of my Sig 220 over the XDm I think I can still be effective with it. I did get a quick word from the RO about rapid fire which the pistol handled quite nicely.

Check out powder river precision for a trigger. I agree, the sights and trigger aren't that great on XDM's. I put the PRP trigger and griptape on and it really tightened my groups at 25yds.

I love that my XDM holds 13 rounds of .45ACP :)

Thanks; I will have to look into the trigger kit. I can probably tolerate the sights but that mushy trigger has got to be fixed.

As for 13 rounds - it is very nice to reload with that many in the mag.

I still have the XDS .45

It was my Springfield 1911 that got confiscated :( I would give up the XDS in a heartbeat though to get my 1911 back.

I thought you sold the XDS bc the recoil was a lot and you didn't like it. I didn't know they confiscated your 1911.

Getting it back is in the works...

I was gonna trade it for an XDS 9mm just to change things up. But never got around to it.

Gotcha. I'm still deciding if I want the .45 or 9mm in the XDS. I need to shoot em both to make up my mind.

Hit the range last Friday with the wife. She continues to impress me on how well she shoots her P250. Got the classroom portion of our CHL class done on Saturday. Just have to go do the qualifying shoot now.

Made the transition this morning. I brought my Sig 220 with three loaded mags into the house, swapped my JHPs over to the XDm mags, and carried the XDm out to the truck as a daily travel/carry gun. I feel comfortable with it but will be upgrading this Hi-Point Match trigger as soon as funds allow. Think I will also pick up a few more 13 round mags for ready-carry also.

The wife and I got our shooting portion knocked out for our CHL yesterday. She did well and I had a perfect score. I have to say it wasn't challenging at all. Pretty much a joke of a shooting test. Getting my prints done on Tuesday and mailing my forms in to the state.

Congrats - but yeah; the shooting portion is a joke. The fact that multiple people failed when we were there is scary as hell.

Yep it was a waste of time.

I had to tell a guy multiple times to stop pointing his unloaded 1911 in my direction during the class. Of course he was a bro and his 1911 was blinged out with skulls and a custom paint job. Most of the people in the class were on their phones the whole time during the class too.

Makes you want to grab his 1911 and leave some skull imprints on his forehead I'm sure.
