You could try waterproof bearing grease. I have been using it on my leaf springs and it has held up pretty well.

I like what you've done with the bungies. You took what I did with the brake calipers a step further with the CVs

It's the only thing I had around. I looked at the pics and it's funny that they are color coded from side to side. I swear my OCD had nothing to do with that....just so happens that's the way they came out of my bed storage bin.

Ill take a look at that. If all else fails it will be Mobil-1.

Well ran into an issue today with the LCA BJ's and it's 100% my fault. Ive had them for months and never took the time to make sure a "rented" BJ press will work and it came back to bite me in the ass.

This BJ press from Autozone won't work so then I went to Pep boys and guess what?.....same dam kit as AZ. Then I took a cruise over to a friends house and he had the same exact kit just different brand. So that was strike three. From a quick search on the web + all the fun I had today it seems like the kit I rented is "the" typical universal kit.

The problem is that the universal kit only has 3 different sized adapters.

The smallest won't work for anything.

The medium is the perfect size for pressing them back in. Just so happens to be the same OD as the BJ (2-1/2").

The large is to wide to seat against the LCA properly and comes in at 2-3/4" ID - 3" OD. It hits the back of the LCA at the bend and is impossible to seat centered.

For it to work properly you need a adapter that's 2-9/16" ID - 2-5/8" ID.

Harbor Freight has a 2-5/8" ID - 2-7/8" OD that might work  I will keep searching for now and make a move tomorrow. Chad was also talking about a Jaw type puller that I need to take a look for.

If anyone has some suggestions tonight I'm ready for them otherwise Ill be heading to Harbor Freight in the am to see if their stuff works. Worst case Ill be hitting up Fazios steel shop for some tube and make my own adapter.

Got them out. Not to bad of a job with the right tools. It took longer to let the adapters cool down before going to the other side then removing them both.

No way in hell a jaw puller will work. I didn't even try it and it's getting returned

We used an air hammer and grinder (not in that order) to get Jasons out.. not pretty but it worked. Used a press to put them back though. :)

Curious why didn't you use the press to remove them using a bearing splitter to pop the joint out?

We didn't have the press until later. :)

Yeah it wasnt a fully baked plan to start. To the point I was about to hit Northern and buy a press and plates. Luckily a local shop was open and charged $5 to do the work. Money well spent!

Some fun from yesterday after I got the BJ's out

Chewed up 2 Lenox laser cut "metal blades" in a matter of minutes....and that's with me waxing the blade and taking care to not burn it up. Absolute poop or those bolts are stronger then I thought.

Cut off wheel made quick work of it, but I had to be much more careful not to hit anything else

Luckily all my parts shipped out today, but I'm not able to work on it again until Monday night. Hopefully Ill be back on the road before the following weekend.

So they wouldn't come out with the good ole BFG and a punch huh, I would imagine those bolts are pretty touch at least grade 8 prolly stronger.

They wouldn't even budge with a impact gun after being soaked in PB and Deep Creep for days. Then I heated them up. Still no go. I tried all I could think of to save them but failed. I read a couple threads of guys being able to save them but I only saved 1 of 4.

Tomorrow the wheel bearings go to Napa to get pressed out/in. I'm not messing with them at all. I just packed the new bearings with Mobil-1 as well as the gaskets and they can have fun with them. I talked to the guy on the phone today and he seems to know his shit, but I am worried they will press them in to far. I was thinking of having him stop 1/8" short in hopes the 173# of torque from the nut will place it perfectly, but I'm not so sure of that. Ill sleep on that and make the decision when I talk to the guy in the morning.
