Recovery Gear - basic and advanced

I keep lube in the truck specifically for the high lift. Also a rebuild kit should I shear a shear pin. Up here with them outside the truck you need to spray it down to get everything unrustwelded. Little spray then slide it up and down and pins start working again. The neoprene boots are worthless in our region and just trap more dust and moisture in the jack exactly where you don't want it. Pretty sure they are only good if your going mudding and don't want to get 3" of crap on it or you live in a desert. Tried it for a few years and far better off without it. Must say the handle flinging up when letting a load down is by far the most dangerous aspect of using one besides dropping the truck on someone with one. Seen a couple close calls with handles flying up at warp speed aimed at peoples heads.

oh and x1,000,000,000,000 on the Bill B videos. Pretty sure I'd be dead now if it weren't for his training videos and insight from people more knowledgeable than myself.

and if you do a have a 48" jack all you need to do to get a 60" is buy a replacement bar. Much cheaper to do this than buy a whole new jack. New bar slips right in with little knowledge needed. At first I thought 48" was more than enough until I was by myself stuck digging my truck out because my jack was 10" too short lol

I have two 60" HiLifts. I need to mount the spare one to the trailer.

I was concerned with those neoprene wraps trapping moisture inside and causing more harm than good.

Nope. It's still dirty from 2 trips to the ranch, wheeling, and the week long rain we have had. It bothers me how dirty it is but rain is supposed to start again on Sunday

Regarding my truck, I call rain "detailing!" lol

I guess since my truck sits in the garage 6.5 days a week I don't have to worry too much about the UV rays lol
I have one on my Hi-lift and it's damn near see through from the sun damage. I'm wondering if it'll make another year at this point before it disintegrates.
They do - don't believe the hype.
Well shit...guess I'll have to take mine off and look at it. Then again, I got my hi-lift from a flea market for $25. It was brand new with the tags on it.

I keep a tow strap in one of the cubbys in the bed along with a hitch mount shackle.
A tire plug kit under the passenger seat, and air compressor behind one of the back seats.
Jumper cables and various straps along with the OEM bottle jack.
Pair of wrenches under the driver seat.

I think that's pretty much it for me. Working on getting a good recovery strap and maybe a winch.

I want to get some gear for the SuperDuty, just a HitchLink, a heavy shackle, a HD strap and some soft shackles. Not planning to take it anywhere off-road other than out at the farm, but it can get muddy out there. I've got some jumper cables in it as well as a nice first aid kit. I like the recovery strap that Matt uses on his YouTube channel with that little XJ.. problem is that strap is over $200!!! OUCH!

Treaty Oak makes a 7/8" for $120. Plus Kyle is a cool dude and a fellow Texan.
