That's Mr Asshole to you
I guess this goes here.
My MIL was watching my son today and came over. Well around 1 today I get a phone call that my garage door wont close and thinks it came off the tracks. She cant close it and I call a handy friend who works close.
He comes over and gets its closed. Good news the door and opener look like they are okay.
Bad news is that somehow my track got bent and fucked up. I have someone coming tomorrow to fix it since this is beyond my ability.
Also my MIL no longer has a garage door opener.

It got a new opener and springs last year. Guess I am going for all of it with new tracks. The door still looks good so hopefully my eyes are not wrong.

Yeah my openers are new (less than 3 years old) but I think its the wheels on the doors. They tend to wear out (lube them fuckers) and they just sound like hell. I lube mine with white silicon periodically but I probably need to do it again.

My friend was telling me they make nylon rollers. However the garage door guy is older and is old school so if I need new rollers I am sure they will be metal

@achirdo @Oswego let's play spot the OSHA violations. I watched an old man who could barely walk catch his finger in the loop. They literally used fence post for these railings lol

that railing is just wow. tell them you know a guy to make it right so they dont get sued for a wrongful injury. @achirdo slide in, build railing, then pass over cold beer to @Anathollo for the referral
Tons of ADA violations in there, rails needs 12" extending past the where the slope ends on both sides also. Not sure who paid for that work. Unbelievable. I'd go tell the owner you almost broke your finger in that rail and he is liable. Bet it gets changed mighty quick.

Water Softener is in. I skipped the residue filter. Felt it wasn't really needed and added too much complexity to the plumbing. I also didn't use my old whole house water filter... didn't really feel it was needed anymore and not worth the hassle. I broke down the old water softener and water filter and threw all that shit in the trash can... I can barely move the can.. I expect the can will break when garbage truck picks it up. :)

I take ZERO credit for the plumbing... I designed the route it would go and my buddy who is a plumber did the work.

Cleaned out dead branches in 2 oaks near the house, probably took me 20hrs total with clean up.

Damn man you trimmed a lot of wood. Man I spent about 45 minutes, maybe an hour, with my pole saw (similar to yours) and two days later my arms killed me. I bet you are gonna be sore on Tuesday.

lol, probably close to 2hrs, standing on ladder at 18ft - 22ft with the saw fully extended, also used 18ft hook&saw trimmer, then another 3 hours on the smaller ladder. The tennis elbow muscles hurt and my hands feel like I have about 25% of my strength in them now.

for sure they broke the 4" rule between balusters. A kid can fall right through that.

I've never worked on a handrails that aren't glass so I'm not up to date on all those codes, but any inspector should of seen the issues that thing has from a mile away. Sadly half the inspectors are clueless if your state even requires them. NYC for example is "self inspect" and we all know thats a joke.

Also - 20% off at Armor Concepts with code HSAVE20 if you want to upgrade your doors security. Valid until November 2nd and these guys blow away door devils hardware. Much better. Wish I had waited ans saved 20%...I got a bunch of stuff from them 2 weeks ago.

Got a call from my brother when I got home from vacation. He had a bad water leak from his A/C line and the water sat on the floor for a couple of weeks (the house is empty and currently for sale.) Thankfully the sheetrock ceiling is fine and just needed a tiny patch. We pulled up the wet flooring, I bleached and scraped the mold off the floor and we put fans on it to dry it out. We'll install some spare flooring he has with new under-layment later this week. The floor needs to dry out completely and the laminate flooring needs 24-48 hours acclimate from being in the attic.

We also fixed the drain line issue and some other small stuff while we were in the attic to bring the house up to code.
