My synthetic superline XD is about 7 years old now and still in good shape. But the Suns UV rays kill that stuff without you knowing it. Olympus offroad had some spiderwire winch line rated at 30,000 lbs breaking for cheap!! So when it gets here we'll see. Fwiw the superline XD was rated at 21000 lbs vs a standard winch cable at 9000.
Have you emailed Gadget at URD? I have read he is a guru with supercharged Toyotas and that his customer service is great.
After playing with the Torque app today I decided to pull the current CEL codes - I am still getting the P0420 and P0770 codes.
The P0420 code is related to the transmission shift solenoid E not locking up properly - only thing is I have receipts from the previous owner having it replaced at Toyota of Dallas a couple of years ago. The P0770 code refers to Catalyst System efficiency below threshold (Bank 1). The troubleshooting steps for that are general intake cleaning, then the 2nd O2 sensor, and then the cat. I have cleaned all the intake parts when I rebuilt the supercharger and I have a receipt where the PO replaced the O2 sensor; only catch is I do not know which sensor but want to assume it was the rear sensor. Next step is the cat(s) - not sure if I really want to jump that far into it yet or not.
Current thoughts - hopefully a shift kit will help fix some of the trans issue? Other posted fixes for this issue once the solenoid had already been replaced were replacing the torque convertor - really do not have that spare cash around at this time. The P0770 code apparently is common with supercharged 3.4s and lots of people run simulators or "spacer" fixes for this. My thought is that the 4R does have +200k miles so the cats could be bad actually.
Thoughts?
The p0770 code was almost always an O2 sensor on the non supercharged 3.4spd I would look there I've never seen a modern cat get clogged to the point of failure.
a little gusset work will never hurt.Z said, "I don't know if you are a good welder but from the sound of it, you sound like one heck of a grinder!!!![]()
