Replacing DS u joints suck. At least I found out where that God awful noise was coming from. I could kick the SOB that tightened my DS bolts. Those bitches were in there good. It took a ton of penetrating oil and my propane torch to get them loose.

Did you take it to Firestone or 4WParts? Expected they used a 1/2" impact on full-tilt-boogie to tighten them down.

My synthetic superline XD is about 7 years old now and still in good shape. But the Suns UV rays kill that stuff without you knowing it. Olympus offroad had some spiderwire winch line rated at 30,000 lbs breaking for cheap!! So when it gets here we'll see. Fwiw the superline XD was rated at 21000 lbs vs a standard winch cable at 9000.

Make an extension with it!!! I put the sleeve on the first full wrap and the last full wrap.

After playing with the Torque app today I decided to pull the current CEL codes - I am still getting the P0420 and P0770 codes.

The P0420 code is related to the transmission shift solenoid E not locking up properly - only thing is I have receipts from the previous owner having it replaced at Toyota of Dallas a couple of years ago. The P0770 code refers to Catalyst System efficiency below threshold (Bank 1). The troubleshooting steps for that are general intake cleaning, then the 2nd O2 sensor, and then the cat. I have cleaned all the intake parts when I rebuilt the supercharger and I have a receipt where the PO replaced the O2 sensor; only catch is I do not know which sensor but want to assume it was the rear sensor. Next step is the cat(s) - not sure if I really want to jump that far into it yet or not.

Current thoughts - hopefully a shift kit will help fix some of the trans issue? Other posted fixes for this issue once the solenoid had already been replaced were replacing the torque convertor - really do not have that spare cash around at this time. The P0770 code apparently is common with supercharged 3.4s and lots of people run simulators or "spacer" fixes for this. My thought is that the 4R does have +200k miles so the cats could be bad actually.

Thoughts?

That's Mr Asshole to you
Have you emailed Gadget at URD? I have read he is a guru with supercharged Toyotas and that his customer service is great.

I have read recent reviews in both directions on Gadget lately; but I probably will give him an email when I get home later today. Also I think Gadget is where the simulator fix originated from to fix the lean issue.

It was the first time the shaft has been taken loose at the rear pinion so it was factory tight at 155k. Good news is that the wired sound is gone and seems pretty good on the road.

Just think, if it lived in NJ for a winter, they would still bbe in the driveshaft.

LMAO. Or any state that uses salt. Of course then the frame would be Swiss cheese and the DS would be the last of your worries. :)

The p0770 code was almost always an O2 sensor on the non supercharged 3.4spd I would look there I've never seen a modern cat get clogged to the point of failure.

Wonder if the PO changed out the wrong O2 sensor. I will check to see if there is a noticable wear difference between them tomorrow. I would be surprised to see one go out within 30k miles though.

update: I found the receipt and cross checked the part number. The PO bought a Denso O2 sensor p/n 234-4261 that does show to be a downstream sensor. I compared the up and downstream sensors - they plug in two completely different methods. No matter how much of an idiot the PO was/is he could not have installed this in the wrong spot.
